And what time do you have to wake up?

that's one of the worst things you can do because then you won't be able to fall asleep immediately in your base sleep period.

the key here is maximizing the efficiency of your main 5 hours of sleep. take the nap immediately after you come home from work - for about 1.5 hours. try to do a little bit of exercise earlier in the day. this will raise your body temperature and induce deeper sleep. if you're a lazy slob, taking a hot shower before you go to bed will have the same effect. the point is just inducing deeper sleep so that you feel more refreshed when you wake up. in addition, don't eat a heavy dinner as the digestion processes will cause your body to work harder at night, interfering with deep sleep. you just want to insure that you pass out immediately when your head hits the pillow. optimally you should eat clean the entire day for more energy and better sleep but i doubt most people would be willing to take it that far, even for the rockets. drink a cup of coffee immediately after you wake up to help you make it to the nap.

I'm in the same boat. I wake up at 6:20 A.M. every morning... don't get home till about 6:00 P.M.

I refuse to DVR the game because you're right, it's not the same... not at all.

I do the same thing--lie in bed for 30 minutes or so (on any given night) thinking about various things, but especially on game nights. It's just difficult for me to fall asleep right after I get into bed.

Honestly, I'd say just suck it up. It's gonna suck getting up in the morning, but you'll be so tired by the time you get home, you can go to bed early tomorrow night. Catch up on your sleep!

As the father of a 6 month old boy, I can honestly say that I have absolutely no idea what "8 hours of sleep" is.

    Go Rockets!

Wouldnt be a problem but tommorrow night i have school until 930pm after work, so tommorrow i'm up and about all day! Makes it tough..i'm thinking of sleep as soon as I get home for 2 hours, than trying to sleep after the game and waking up around 630-7am.....my problem is getting to sleep...if it's not the rigth time...i have a very hard time sleeping, i will most likely lie there with my eyes closed thinking about a million things.

Yeah, I know. It's rough. Falling asleep has always been very difficult for me.

Well, the classes thing is definitely a problem. Coming home and sleeping for two hours isn't a bad idea. Try to make it happen.

Might be time to stock up on the Red Bull.

Try living on the east coast. Monday I got about 4 hours of sleep, and then I had 3 back to back meetings at work from 9:00-12:00, brutal. Last night got in bed before 10:00, when I usually go to bed around 12:00.

I usually need about 6 to 7 hours of sleep, anything more and I get cranky. The games haven't been too much of a problem since I normally go to sleep at about 1AM and wake up around 7 or 7:30AM. What's harder is staying on Clutchfans for a few hours after the game.

Tonight's going to be tough though because I have to get up before 6AM, have an hour and a half drive to a court hearing at 8:30AM. I was thinking about maybe skipping the second half but I don't think that will happen.

Regarding falling asleep, I usually have a routine that helps me to fall asleep...I turn on the lamp and read a magazine/book or surf bbs on my phone in dark then I knock out.

I can't do that after watching the game because my brain is too wired. I am planning to take a run after work so a nap is out of question. Like I said, gotta stuck it up!!

like some others have said, I find taking a tylenol PM in the second half helps a lot. I usually just crawl into bed after the game.

I can take the lack of sleep for playoff wins but what really sucks is my kids 7&8 are big fans and can't seem to make it past the first half. I DVR it for them and they usually watch it the next day but the next morning the first thing they want to know is "Did we win"? Sucks that they didn't get to experience the win on monday in real time with me.

how many of you guys are actually on eastern time...Im in miami, and luckily this month i only have to wake up at 730..games last till past 1 am...other months ive had to wake up as early as 330am...

the problem is..win or lose..theres a lot of adrenaline..so it takes at least 40 min - 1 hr to fall asleep after the game. So maybe game days i get around 5 hours..small price to pay for rockets basketball :D

I agree, is it really that hard to operate on 5 hours sleep for 2 or 3 days a week?

    Man up.

Alright. At least you are in the same situation. My other problem is my friends and I have had a tradition of watching the games somewhere. However, due to our ages and work issues, we've not been as die-hard as previous years.

Regardless, going out and drinking until 12:30 only makes matters worse...
