I don't think Howard is going to leave all that money on the table if he really wants to go to Houston.

I think the Rockets would have to give up Asik + (Lin?) for a resigned Howard. (If Howard really wanted to go to Houston that is)

Sign and trade doesn't work that way any more. The most he can make is the max the Rockets can offer him.

Asik is probably more valuable than all the guys listed so unless we're getting a star (Aldridge, Love, Cousins for example) out of a trade he's involved in I want to keep him without question. (I don't rate Josh Smith personally)

I'm cool chilling with Asik as a backup center until Love becomes available. Maybe we can trade Lin for Millsap anyway.

I don't want to trade Asik unless we get a superstar in return.

Id only trade Asik IF we got Howard... and I would trade him along with Robinson and either Jones or Motiejunas for Love. That's the only way I'd trade Asik right now.

Actually, for us it'd be even better if it was Asik, Robinson, and Smith for Love.

You have a Top 5 C and paying him $8M a year. You don't trade assets like that when the probability is you aren't getting anything close to equal value in return. That's how you run your organization into the ground.

Ryan Anderson would be an excellent pickup if we got Dwight. I would try to send them more salary (one of the PF's) and get them to throw in a 1st round pick.

I'd like to trade him & Lin to a team like Cleveland and only receive a pick or 2 in return so we can sign both Howard and CP3 :D

It would be amazing, but we couldn't afford it once Asik's contract runs out in a couple years.

Agreed, but that's why you shop it around while his value is high and if nothing worthwhile latches on, then you keep him. Morey's smart enough to know Asik's value and to know that other GMs do as well.

Disagree on Top 5 C, though. There are more options than people realize:
Gasol, Howard, Lopez, Horford, Tyson Chandler, Noah, Cousins and Monroe (if you count them as Cs)

I'd not trade Asik. 8M is too good for a near 1st-tier big. What Rockets actually need is a decent PF. After watching Hack-an-Asik, it would be horror to watch a Hack-a-Dwight. I'd prefer Asik + Millsap. This will also make the salaries more manageable.

Lin and Asik to the Clippers for CP3 in a sign and trade. CP3 would have to threaten to sign with Dallas for the Clips to bite on that one, though.
