Asik is not playing good right now. More like what we expected.

Trade him. We can get Howard.

Would rather see if anyone wants Lin. I'd take Lowry back for Lin straight up.

If we sign Dwight i wouldn't trade asik for any of the named players... Morey would entertain offers but he won't give him away... If rather have asik be a backup than have any named player...

I do like Ryan but only if he came with added value(picks or players)...

I think Morey won't trade his top trade asset, outside maybe Parsons, for a need... He would trade him for a love, bosh or Aldridge... He would SETTLE fit a Ryan Anderson it an Ersan Ilyasova type player...

We are better with asik as a backup, rather than a lesser 4...

Everyone who wants Anderson...it better be Anderson and a 1st. Asik's value is insane right now. 7 ft, 30 mins, rebounder, defender, 8 mil/yr. Super bargain for a big. Anderson is overpaid for what he does imo...need more value in return

Less than that... Depends on salary cap, but we would have 39+ mill committed next year... You decline Garcias 6+ mill contract is enough, decline delfino by himself is enough, decline olbrecht and both Garcia and delfino together you can sign Dwight and Tony Allen...

Howard just renders Asik a luxury we can't quite afford. Too much money to the center position at that point.

Asik+Lin+Motiejunas+Rights to Royce White+Carlos Delfino+future first rounder for Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo. Then sign Howard and JJ Reddick.

    Howard/Smith
    Kevin Garnett/Terrence Jones
    Parsons/Garcia (bring him back!)
    Harden/Reddick
    Rondo/Beverly

If Asik were to be traded, how would Asik's contract affect his new team's cap space? I know we get the $25 million divided evenly over the three years, but would any other team have that luxury or would they get hit for the $15 million third year?

I hate to be "that guy" but I would trade Lin. I think Asik is a steal for his contract and is a huge part of our team. I think you can get a nice piece for Lin + young guy(s) and Morey can handle finding a guard or two to fill in the back court.

this absolutely makes no sense.. IF......IF.... Houston has enough money to sign DHoward then why the **** would we trade Asik?? KEEP ASIK and move D12 to the 4 (his natural position) .. But if we must trade, I could think of a few others before Asik.. The 5 who worked his ass off this season (unlike D12).. Ship out Lin and Royce White and DMo .. Trade for Garnett???? Trade for an old player who wouldn't start for this youth movement? Trade away your starting center for an aging bench player??? This makes no sense.. This team is a "4" away from Championship Caliber.. We don't need Garnett!!!!!

Howard is by no means a 4, that's absurd to think that. As for Garnett, he would absolutely start for this team at the 4. How in the world could you think otherwise?? Our young guys could learn an awful lot from him. Even at his age, he is a big factor on the court. An elite defender who can also create his own shot and hit from outside? Yes sir, sign me up. Asik wouldn't get 30 minutes a night with Howard here. Trading him and trying to maximize value would be the smart thing to do.

Early? Yes. Unthinkable. Definitely no. Howard is in play and i think there is no way we are keeping both. And make no mistake, almost if not all GMs would take Howard over Asik. Annoying to start this thread right now? Of course. But is something the front office will be faced with this summer.

Wow great timing for this post lol.

I now consider Asik to be the best center in the NBA once you account for salaries, and he's certainly the best center for this particular team. He's:

    1) Always healthy
    2) Great paint defender
    3) above average rebounder
    4) average pnr threat
    5) average ft shooter
    6) costs only 8M a year

You know what 8M in the league gives you? Charlie Villanueva. Kwame Brown. Kendrick Perkins. Asik is pretty much a steal at his contract, and while Dwight Howard is straight up better than him at everything except fts, he doesn't give you 2x what Asik does. Rather than fantasizing about Howard who will be hacked from here until eternity, let's just keep Asik and put that 8M towards osmething else, like retaining the services of our killer 2nd unit...namely Beverly, Delfino, Garcia and Brooks.

Almost if not all Gms missed out on Chandler Parsons, and a lot of Gms said Harden wasn't worth max money. Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's right.

Again, for all that Asik does, Howard did everything better statistically that Asik did all season. (probably not FTs. not siting all the stats right now.) Offensively Howard is light-years ahead of Asik. Basically Howard has hand vs Asik's stone blocks. Both are stellar on D. Your defense is Morey drafts well? If you dont want Howard I question your bball IQ.

I would not want to trade Asik ever. Even if we sign Howard, I want Asik on the team. Play Howard 30-35mpg. Asik 25-30mpg. Basically have 10-15 minutes each game where they're together. We have seen that bad floor spacing with Smith and Asik has worked at times. With both, we can easily become one of the best defensive teams in the NBA.

Not sure the team has to trade Asik if they land Dwight Howard. Howard can play PF and back-up center.
