I guess you don't read the game thread. Good for you. Crap, it's 3am now. I need to go off your thread and go to bed now. Otherwise, I could be identified as someone posting from China in the afternoon.
Yeah...I rarely read them anymore. Can't really explain why, possibly too many score predictions, etc.
That says it all Shakespeare...how many games have you seen this year ? Have you watched any other teams' games ? Writing 250 line theoretical posts looking at a scorebox don't make them any more intelligent then others.
A) I have watched about 5, have listened to every game not televised up here, and yes, I watch other teams' games all the time. I addressed the fact that I hadn't seen tonight's game by A) Saying so in my original post, B) citing the sources who were watching the game and C) Citing the many other examples I have seen myself this year. B) What theory did I espouse? C) When did I claim intelligence of any kind? D) Don't you find criticizing someone for not knowing whereof they speak is a little open to criticism when you do so yourself in the process? E) Thanks for calling me Shakespeare...I'm assuming you meant it as a compliment, cause if it was meant to be an ironic insult, you'd be about 9, and it would be way past your bed time.
The threadstarter is an Amaechi-only fan!!! Down with the bloody English!!! Go back to your Stratford!!! Go back to your Avon lady by day/pornstar by night!!
MacBeth, I'm going to reiterate some observations I posted in the game thread here, but I think the point-differential situation in the game has a lot to do with Yao being "iced." We had a 14-point lead at the half, and despite the awful, sloppy 3rd quarter, we maintained a double-digit cushion until the Drobnjak trey with 0.5 secs left, so we pretty much had a 10-12 point lead all thru that period. As we began play in that quarter, I could almost envision cartoon thought-balloons above certain players' heads: "We're cruisin'--so now it's time for me to get mines." When we're in a tightly fought, hotly contested game, the other players are reminded to "force-feed it to Yao." But when we have a decent-sized lead, selfishness prevails, leading to loose playground-style streetball again, and we don't try hard enough or often enough to get Yao the ball. So I have to say it's the ego explanation, with the egos most obviously rearing their ugly heads when they think (wrongly) that the game is already in hand.
I have of late, wherefore I know not, lost all my mirht, foregonell custom of excerice, and indeed it goes so heavily with my...disposition that I need a Bro...
AHHH... SHould read: I have of late, lost all my mirth ( as opposed to girth), foregone all custom of excercise ( indeed, judging from appearance), and indeed it goes so heavily with my...disposition that I need a 'Bro... Sorry, had to spur of the moment bastardize a Shakespeare quote as it relates to Amechi...
The theory that the Rockets fall into their own special category whereby they take their own players out of a game even when they are on fire. For not having seen last night's game it's hard to comment on that one specifically, but for you to start a thread like this after the Clipper game implies it was the catalyst. You must have read the statline that says, Yao 6for7, all in the first half, nada in the 2nd half, hence we took our hottest player out of the game by sheer stupidity... It's not only this thread, and it's not only you really, but what comes out of all these threads is that we have a stupid team, stupid players, and we can't execute a proper gameplan. I've watched the Spurs, the Lakers, the Mavs and they've all had some pretty poor games. They've all lost to some pretty crappy teams... You've never done such a thing, but others do it for you. Certainly not an insult, just a reference to your login and the fact that you allways write these longwinded posts that are hard to finish...as for myself, i just woke up, so maybe i didn't get enough sleep but i went to bed when my wife told me to go...
Many, many other times ? When has Yao been so hot ? I think he's had a fairly hard time so far this year...and very few "dominating" ones...
I think that Macbeth is referring to the trend since last season. If you followed last season games you should notice this trend too.
MacBeth, the predominant factor is still ego. I'm not bashing Mobley, but he simply shows no signs of wanting to "defer" to Yao. Your other explanations play a part, certainly, but we have seen in cases where it was necessary, that Yao does want the ball in crucial late-game situations, so it's not his "Eastern attitude." We've also force-fed him the ball despite defensive adjustments, so the primary factor is an unwillingness on the part of certain teammates to keep pumping the ball into him. JVG himself has noticed this same trend of icing; a quote from our coach after the GS game: "If Yao (posts up) after scoring four or five times in a row and you pass him up, that's not smart play." The key phrase here is PASS HIM UP--so clearly JVG is specifying instances where none of the other factors you mentioned are at work, but Yao was simply passed up.
Last season is ancient history. We've got a different coach (and i believe the players do what he says), and this is just a different team from last year's. Enough with last year already...
If you believe our players do what our new coach says, then why did he have to say this? "If Yao (posts up) after scoring four or five times in a row and you pass him up, that's not smart play." Please explain this apparent paradox.
A) I think we disagree on what constitutes a theory and what constitutes an observation. A theory would have been explaining the observation, which I did not do; In point of fact, I admitted I could not do so. B) I think you need to read more of my threads before painting me with the " We're so stupid!" brush. C) If others do comment on my intellect, and it bothers you, why are you A) taking it up with me, and B) reading my posts at all? D) If, as is obvious, you find my posts long winded and hard to read, rather than counter with positive feedback I get for them, I would simply invite you to not read them. Why eat what you don't like when you don't have to? Certainly it's better to pass on the cook whose style you find unapetizing rather than continue to eat his food while grumbling about his cooking...
A) When did I say he had to be exactly as hot as today to be considered hot? Today was merely the most recent extreme example. B) His stat line for this game will hardly read as dominating. Chicken and egg.
It is not so ancient since we still have almost the same players as our starters. You do believe that the players always do what JVG said, I don't. So I think that this recurring mistakes from last season still need to be addressed.
A) See, now we can come back to theory...as in " i believe"..as opposed to an observation. B) Ummm..while I welcome your and anyone else's input, I do think that dictating to other posters what material they are and are not allowed to find relevant to the discussion, especially as it's their discussion is sort of carrying the concept of participating to an unwarrented extreme.
