Starts in less then a week. I know there are some other fans of cricket on this board. Who you cheering for? Is this finally India's year or will Australia make it a 4-peat?
it took the second post. You don't know what cricket is? I know what it is. I still don't understand all the rules.
Sachin really deserves it. Arguably one of the best players ever. There are a lot of Indians, Pakis, and Australians on this board so this thread should get pretty intense.
I'm rooting for West Indies, but I think India is the team to beat this year. I wouldn't mind seeing either win, although W.I has very little chance.
I think some Sri Lankans and English also. I think the team again to beat is Australia. Though India is very good. I just think the pressure of playing in front of a home crowd will be too much. South Africa is also very good and the Eglish, Lankans and damn Pakis can never be counted out.
I always root for Sri Lanka even though I'm Indian. Since their victory in 96, I fell in love with Jayasuriya and Muralitharan. I guess I started off as a bandwagoner lol. I think Sachin deserves to win though and thats why I'll be rooting for India. I've always hated Australia because of the incident with Murali during one of the series. I hope they get knocked out early.

Cricket is a dying sport. Too few teams, little dynamism in rosters, changed rules, and so on. Even people from Australia and England admit its declining popularity. In this way, cricket is very similar to baseball. When I was young living overseas, I followed the Pakistani team from the late 80s till 2003. Watching ODIs and Test cricket was a blast. Wasim Akram, Javed Miandad, Imran Khan, Inzamam ul-Haq, Waqar Younis, Saqlain Mushtaq, Saeed Anwar... good times.
Cricket is a racist sport. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ojqMGlqYHPg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
