Dwight for sure, but Ibaka is a great player (who has really impressed me this year). If they ever got to play on a team together they would flat out dominate.

Howard can impact a game on either end of the court. He's a better one-on-one defender than Ibaka, as well as a better rebounder. Against the right opponent, he can dominate on the block.

Ibaka is a better rim protector and can shoot the jumper. That's it.

One you ask to impact the game, the other you ask to fill a role. Not the same.

Chris bosh is not a full time 5...He is a 4. You can win in today's nba like that.

Would you rather have that 5 above or
    Ibaka/Love/Parsons/Harden/Beverley?

You still get the shot blocking and rebounding but with tremendous spacing, youth and ft shooting.

I agree. Do you think Howard is back to his old self athletically? Will he get there?

Howard did a tremendous job against Lopez this playoffs. He showed up for sure so I am not a Howard hater at all.

Given the Ibaka love in the media this week - I thought it would be a good time for this to get serious consideration.

To be fair, Ibaka DOES have both Durant and Westbrook on his team. It's not like Ibaka was ever called upon to be option #1 and failed at it.

Plus, Ibaka is only 24(!). He still has time to develop his play on both sides of the ball, before being scrutinized harshly.

His defense is already all-world. He could use some post moves, but his midrange is looking pretty decent. Ibaka and Griffin could be monsters at the 4 if they improve their games.

    Agreed

but Ibaka hasnt shown much other than hitting spot up/wide open jumpers. From the times i have seen him go 1on1 or post up it hasnt been pretty and he is innefective.

Bolded: we have our very own 24 yr old who can still improve on both sides of the ball as well (defense specifically). I just dont see Ibaka improving that much more offensively mainly because i dont know what team would make him a #1 or 2 option. He wont get the same opportunity James did.

Howard is a more impactful player for sure.

If we are considering age, salary, potential, etc. I can see why people might choose Ibaka.

Where are you getting this 'healthier' stuff? Because Dwight had offseason back surgery one year? And then he 'struggled' the next season in LAL, when he averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds, more than Ibaka has ever averaged in his career?

Don't get me wrong, I think Ibaka is a good player. He is younger and cheaper than Howard, and he is a good shot blocker. However, Howard is still a much, much better player. From Houston's perspective, I wouldn't even consider trading Howard for Perkins and Ibaka.

Would OKC do this trade? I don't know. They would run into the same problem with their payroll that they had with Harden. If they did, though, Westbrook Durant and Howard on the same team would be disgusting.

I really like Ibaka. When he's mentally engaged, he is a weapon on the defensive end. He's one of the top 10 power forwards in the league. I would trade a lot of pieces to get him on this Rockets team.

.... That being said, Howard is a work-horse and a game changing star. I'd take him over Ibaka everyday.

You mean Howard for Ibaka. Including Perkins actually makes the trade worse.

    OH GOD.
    Our first ****ing HOH.
    Howard Only Hater.
    GTFO.

Howard is the reason we didn't get swept against the Blazers, don't ever disrespect Dwight Howard with a question like this again.

Of course you can.... with Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Ray Allen etc. on your team.

The OP originally suggested Howard for Ibaka and Perkins.

Ibaka for Howard straight up doesn't work salary-wise

This offseason has produced more asinine threads than I can ever remember. Why does everyone have something against our entire team almost. People cry about Lin and Parsons and Harden and now Howard.

Harden and Howard are our foundation for at least the next 2 seasons, deal with it.
