I wouldn't mind just keeping Lin and Asik

I agree with this line of thinking.

    PG: Beverley, Canaan
    SG: Harden, Lin
    SF: Parsons, (Anderson?), ?
    PF: Jones, Motiejunas
    C: Howard, Asik, G. Smith

Maybe move Lin to shooting guard. It's his natural position anyway.

I think that the rumor that Omer was unhappy is completely made up. I haven't seen any reliable source saying that, and it would completely go against what we have seen of Omer the past season. He seems like a blue collar guy who shows up for work and does his job, not like a diva.

    Twin Towers!!!

    Keep Asik!

    And keep Lin.

You forget they signed Garcia and the guy from Isreal, plus Morey has hinted that Canaan will be in the "Vipers rotation"

I guess that why he is such a good play maker because his natural position is a shooting guard????

Couple of past great basketball players and coaches think Lin is a (good) point guard, but some of our fans think he is a shooting guard.

    Truly the difference.

Seconded. Someone (Morey? Jason Friedman? Or one of the beat writers, can't remember who) mentioned that even on a team with very little ego like the young Rockets), Asik is the one with absolutely no ego. I can't imagine him saying that AT ALL.

I don't see us playing Asik & D12 together as neither has a mid-range game like other bigs do (Duncan, Bosh, Gasol's), but would definitely love to keep Asik.

And yes, keep Lin too! :)

I could be wrong but I recall reading in articles that Lin played the 2 (SG) in high school & college, thus the comment from Billionzzz that it was his "natural" position.

Lin plays shooting guard in high school and combo guard in college I think.

Lin was the PG in HS. He played SG and sometimes SF at Harvard because they didn't have any guards big enough to fill that role. The Ivy League plays a couple inches shorter than other college divisions.

Lin can guard the 2 but it's far from his natural position, he is 6'3"

    AroundTheWorld,

Morey signed Asik with the promise that he'd be our starter. I think it's only fair at this point to ask him if he wants to stay or be traded. He played his heart out. Let him decide. imo

Certainly a nice gesture, no doubt, but not likely to happen in reality. Morey signed Lin & practically made him the face of the franchise all summer & promised him a team centering around him. Then came Harden in October, and Lin was asked to adjust his game. I don't see Asik having issue with Howard, nor do I see any difference between the Lin/Harden and Asik/Howard scenarios.

Obviously by "summer" and "October" I was talking about last year.

If there is anyone out there who could sell the idea to Asik coming off the bench it should be McHale. He spent a portion of his career coming off the bench for the Celtics and helped them win championships. Sometimes you have to sacrifice for the team, and help the team win. Asik coming off the bench for Howard would give us the best 1/2 punch at center in the NBA and would allow Dwight to be more aggressive defensively.

Hopefully, McHale can have a sit down with this guy and sell him on the idea.
