I don’t think it’s quite as extreme as you are looking at it. Biden is still leading national polls and candidates like Buttigeig, Klobuchar and Bloomberg are also very viable. If you look at what tipped the House and several state houses it wasn’t self-styled Socialists but moderate and in the case of Connor Lamb and Doug Jones almost Conservative Democrats. While the Squad makes a lot of noise they represent already very liberal districts where they replaced already liberal representatives. Whether the Democrats took the House or not Cortez and Omar still would’ve won their seats over what was at best token Republican resistance.

I was at the do not vote Republican stage when I was young... now I just don't vote for any of two major parties. Do not support needless bloodshed overseas.

Honestly, I think it'll be good for the country to swing left and hard. You've seen Obama try to be bipartisan and got shitted on.
The country has been shifting right since WW2 and a move back left might wake people up to what the middle should really be.

I see your point. I don't think Sanders (even recognizing his 2016 showing) and Warren would even get the consideration they now get if it wasn't for Trump. There is also a countervailing force to self-moderate (probably healthy), which I think we saw most clearly with Elizabeth Warren's rise and fall. She went hard left and gained a bunch of support and then, helped with attack ads, people seemed to have checked themselves and thought, "maybe that's too far." So yeah, there's forces for moderation. But, the usual one -- which is the threat that if you go too far left I'll just vote Republican -- is particularly weak this time.

The fear would be, after a hard left swing, we'll swing even harder to the right. It's fine for leftists so long as they can maintain their majority. But they probably won't and then the retribution will come. Duly noted on Obama -- bipartisanship was not rewarded. I think because the incentive mechanism to reward bipartisanship wasn't there. Probably Congress needs to think about how they govern their own body so that efforts at bipartisanship are made out of necessity and not out of goodwill. You can't count on goodwill gestures being reciprocated. Killing the filibuster probably hasn't helped us.

Nope. I'll vote for independents, depending on their record, not vote, or whatever I feel is right. I won't vote for anyone involved in this miscarriage of the Constitution.

Oh I agree with you. Locally, it's a much different thing. Nationally, I stand by my statement.

I live outside the state, not that it matters.
