Interestingly while researching these guy, I found this video of Curtis Yarvin in El Salvador talking about his "philosophy" and how it applies to El Salvador. It's nuts. He's clearly a fascist and a racist. He goes into how governments should be monarchies and how some people are genetically inferior and need to be led, among other dumb ass ideas. He also mentions how El Salvador should use tariffs to protect the economy and create jobs for El Salvadoran workers (sound familiar). I doubt Thiel and Yarvin actually had anything to do with the rise of Bukele, but there is definitely a cross-pollination of ideas going on. It's crazy that these ideas are in the White House.

He's not trolling. He's (obviously) writing to other people who lean to the right and asking for understanding. I mean, by all means, disagree with that and call him names or whatever, but I for one welcome anyone advocating any measure of compassion, even if their actual votes look anti-compassionate from where I stand. Voting can do one thing (and boy will it do something not good, IMHO, in this case). But whatever comes, we will need people being open, communicative and compassionate on local levels, whether in their neighborhoods or schools or whatever. If we can keep talking, there's a small chance, for instance, people can band together if they see something that looks too extreme and negative to most of us (even if some kinda just voted for it either unwittingly or in the "they really won't do X, will they?" mindset). Vilifying marginalized groups is harder when communities are strongly sharing and sympathizing. If they sit home on their keyboard posting stupid Xeets, well, then, yeah, other groups can seem inhuman and you'll be less likely to care if they get stomped on.
We need to get past the part where we pretend that arguments that right wingers spam here are from a place of good faith but rather a place of going online and wanting to trigger people they feel annoyed about. With the friends I still keep in touch in real life that are in right wing circles especially those I formally served with, I will try to understand their perspective and give them a safe place where they can eventually turn away from MAGA with a soft landing understanding I'm not going to judge them. But online with these random chodes who are very clear in their insincerity? Unless you know @Astrodome personally I'm going to assume he's mostly in bad faith due to how he expresses his claims and concerns.

There is an inner troll in me that makes me sometimes direct middle aged men who have insecurity issues to eventually post their resumes to me I admit and I take some joy in that. It's a character flaw on my part. But let's be clear. I slighted your profession as a manager of dining halls from the standpoint of having an irrational fear of being canceled because you stalked a 19 year old teenage girl and harassed them about gender ideology when you aren't some social science facility member which means I'd make the same claims if you were a rocket scientist. I slighted your service because you used it to dehumanize Palestinians by using your Desert Storm vacation trip as a jump off point to claim some level of expertise in your reasoning for why we should care less about Palestinian lives.
