I might be making a similar flight... What are the stopovers on that flight? I was looking at DC to Riyadh direct, or DC-London-Dubai-Riyadh(its always worth stoping in Dubai)
They have AC/DC outputs in planes... Plus always get a second battery if you travel at all. I have one for my cell/laptop/camera and ofcourse for mp3 player. Batteries are a must have.
Dubai is a great place, but I don't know if I would want to fly that far past Riyadh, then have to back track. If you stop in Dubai do they let you off the plane? When I had a similar flight and it stopped in Abu Dahbi (sp) or one that stopped in Muscat, They made us stay in the plane. So we fly about 30-40 min past my destination, and then I had to sit there for an hour doing nothing but smelling the airplane cleaning guys....pewww.....and then I have to fly back the 40min to Dhahran. That was a waste of time. I fly to Amsterdam, where I normally stop for about 5hrs. Amsterdam is a great place to stop. Then I either fly straight to the new Dhahran Internation airport, or to the Baharain airport. They have outlets for laptops built into the seats. (in Business/First Class). If you are in Economy class you can, go and sit in the toilet for a long time since there are outlets in the bathrooms.
Am on EZE-FRA with LH511 right now and, after some years, back on flight where Flynet works. Love it! Maybe I even get to watch the Rockets game online? If it works, I'll join chat!
I am just waiting for the cities to start making metropolitan wide wifi (i.e. Wifi network to cover all of Houston)
Hilarious, before I saw the age of the thread I thought "is this really that exciting" and I was wondering why people were calling him "SJC." Back then I think I was still lugging around my modem, laptop and 50 foot cable cord anytime I wanted to go from the living room to the bedroom. "Through walls?" "Through walls," the CompUSA salesman said.
I disagree. The two times I've used Southwest Airlines WiFi (recently), it's been pretty awesome. Not sure if that's due to less people being on it, or if they've just improved it from when they first launched it. I was satisfied with it, only 5 bucks.
Because it still fascinates me how this is even possible - and because I am online from a plane again. I know it's nothing special anymore for domestic US flights, but back then, it was - and we still don't have it for intra-Europe flights.
I used it like 2 months ago and it was horrible. Yes it's only 5 bucks, but not many people were on my flight and it kept disconnecting. Both on my trip there and coming back.
i was able to get internet from a coffee shop. do you guys think we'll make the playoffs this year? 4-3 record carr to andre looks promising!
I'm actually glad United doesn't yet have this on their flights. When I choose to work on the plane, I don't get interrupted by emails or get tempted to post on here!
