So without Lowry and Martin, McHale gets the team winning big games. I give a ton of credit to Parsons and Dragic but geez, McHale isn't a stooge.
Not a stooge. But these guys play hard. ANd the biggest problem last year was defense at the 2, 3, 4, and 5. We had the wekest defense in the league. So weak you could never consider playing Scola at the end of games becuae people were eating his krunch lunch. Now Lee is at the 2, Parsons is at the 3 and Bear and now Camby or at the center spot. All of those are improvements for the team. But more than that Camby is a superior defender and shotblocker that we can afford to play Scola to end games. Plus Dragic is actually playing better than Lowry right now. McHale deserves credit for playing those guys that help him win but he is also benefited by the fact we have them. And Morey deserves credit for bringing them in.
I give you that is about personnel, and Morey took some heat for Bear and Camby, but McHale has something to do with those names as well. Plus he coached them up. There is also something to be said for getting them to play hard. As shown before, he doesn't just sit around disappointed when they play like crap, he lets them know in words that Scola can't say on TV.
yeah, when a team plays hard and doesn't give up, despite not having a strong and clear leader, the coaching deserves a lot of credit. Not just Mchale, but his assistants too..
I was wrong about McHale as well. He has a good staff around him and is getting the most out of what he has.
I noticed Mc Hale doesn't wait till we are ten point's down to call a time out like coach Adelman always did.
I wish Adelman was back. He took the Rockets to the playoffs, even with T-Mac and Yao injured. He took them to the 2nd round without T-mac. Here we are hailing McHale as a great coach that can take a team to the playoffs despite injuries. Rockets going back to the lottery.
The players took us to the 2nd round, not just Adelman. We had a better team in 2009. Artest, Battier, Landry, Brooks...Yao played in the first round series against Portland.
