Green@2, Thompson@4, and, now...Fred Van Freaking Fleet...for 3 years and 130,000,000! Just. Brutal. Undersized, overrated, and ridiculously overpaid. How we used that capspace was going to speak volumes.... Well, there it is ladies and gentlemen! While I was excited about Ime, and willing to let Amen & JG continue to win me over...this is such an obvious blunder of epic proportions that when combined with the other makes for an indictable mess. BOO!
The length of the FVV contract is honestly the first major move Stone has made that I'm not as excited about. I think the drafts have gone pretty well for the Rockets considering they didn't have a number one pick in either of those years.
Vleet Vleet Vleet For the love of God, figure out how to spell this man's name. lol. There are no Fleets involved in the sinking of this ship!
I just hate that third year, but I’m honestly not mad at the move. They had to add $60 million to the payroll of an already deep team of low cost/high upside kids. They had to overpay… They still have $20 mill to go. Dillon Brooks or Brook Lopez on the way.
It was either 1. FVV/Lopez 2. “Rent out” cap space 3. Trade for player X. 4. James Harden Option 2 seems to be less attractive than normal as we saw with the Dallas/OKC trade. Option 3 would cost all or many of our assets and at this point we get to keep that powder dry. Option 4 with some thing that I was interested in for a while, but ultimately came to realize was a terrible idea. Option 1 is an overpay. However, what the player brings both on and off the court is going to be invaluable to instilling this culture that Udoka wants. 3 years isnt a long time. Seems like we can structure a Brook or Brooks deal and make moves to still create a max spot next year if needed. Im excited for FVV.
You have been drooling over Amen whole year and he got you him. Then miraculously drafted Cam. A Stonesexual has no right to turn on him right now.
When u got a mess of rookie scale contracts - u can overpay a position of need. U only get so many roster spots - im thankful we’re shooting for upper level talent - and not taking cheaper guys with unproven potential…
He can get out of the third year if he wants. All they have to do is say they want to go a different directions and he’ll agree to a buyout. Players know after John wall that the rockets have no problem paying you to sit. If amen is ready to start before year 3, then Fred will come off the bench or agree to a buyout
Thing is… I’m good w FVV and Lopez… AND let’s swing a trade… We need to turn 4 quarters into a dollar imo…
How did you want the money spent? I get it it's an overpay. However I think FVV is a guy that will work as a teammate for Amen and Green. He is very hard working, and will push Ime's agenda. He is in this prime and by the time we pay Amen he will be done. Harden is nothing but trouble, Kyrie is a nut. Most guys won't come to a rebuild to lose over half the games most likely. We need young guys to grow, The need someone to teach them but not stunt their growth. I'm choosing to hope for the best long term results.
You don't get it. There is a minimum payroll we have to hit. We can't sit on cap space and wait for something better to come along. Unfortunately it leads to players getting vastly overpaid. At least its only 3 years.
Digging Stone even more after FVV signing... Finally a competent GM and not one who is secretly in love with bum loser Harden...
i think fan fleet can teach amen a thing or two about getting the ball in the basket from long distances
