It was on sohu.com, I translated it back to English. http://sports.sohu.com/20070123/n247772658.shtml
You can't do that, there already was a greek G-mac http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=2712255#post2712255
First of all, where is it written that the Coach is required to tell YOU every single little detail of what is going on behind closed doors? Did it ever occur to you that some people, maybe even coaches and players alike, might not WANT everybody to know every detail of every little bit of friction that goes on? But the reporters keep asking and asking, you have to tell them SOMETHING just to get them to shut up. Geez, this attitude that some people have, like JVG OWES you something, and if he doesn't bend over backwards and give it to you whenever you want, then that makes HIM the bad guy?? Grow up.
Vspan has not earned the right to complain about playing time, period. He had a couple of nice moments early in the season, but overall he still has a TON of improving to do. His defense has been solid, but there is no way he can play extended minutes at the point against good defensive guards. He also can't hit the spot up jumper. If we can get anything decent for him I'd trade him now, because he really doesn't fit this team. I think another PG is a must in a trade this season. We don't need anybody great ... just a consistent PG that can hit the spot up 3 and won't turn it over. Bob Sura would be perfect ... it's a shame.
I agree, but V-Span doesn't even have these things, yet he wants to be treated like an All Star. He should just shut and play. There are plenty of other rookies around the league not seeing much playing time, yet I don't hear any of them whining about it.
I do not know what you imply in this post, but I hope that Zboy can come out and post more, he was a good poster, made lots of good comments on Rox, just forgetting about Howard thing or say something good for him.
can't agree with you more. I think Vspan will be a quality PG but for right now he has to earn his spot in the rotation, all the guys in the NBA were at some point or another the best player somewhere, doesn't mean squat if you don't perform.
True, but let's not pretend like coaches, management or anyone else in charge of giving people opportunities to perform haven't been wrong before. More often than not, the player just isn't ready yet. But more often than you'd expect, the coach or system is hampering a player who can actually play.
I don't know why some of you cling to rookies so much. Our coach is a winning coach, with a proven track record in the NBA, and you're going to believe the words of a whining rookie over him? It's ludicrous. JVG is right- V-Span had a chance for more minutes, and got them while he could. The result? High turnovers, bad decision, bad fouls, bad shooting. JVG hasn't cut him out of the game plan just yet- but obviously, we can't afford to risk anymore on the court than we are right now- the situation is too delicate with Yao Ming out right now, and we are certainly not a LOCK for the playoffs. When Yao is back, and Snyder and Bonzi are back in our rotation- sure, I'll be fine with some experimentation. But I don't want to give an unproven player extensive minutes when we don't have them to spare while one of our stars is out. It's just bad basketball.
You obviously did not watch this team last year. We had several shooters on this team last year who were worse than Rafer. Heck, RYBO was even taking shots last year, remember? Calm down.
The title of the thread is extremely misleading- not sure if it was on purpose! It is not VSPAN saying he was McGrady back home in Greece- it is JVG suggesting that. Big Difference.
Not necessarily. It is possible that JVG was quoting something that V-Span had previously said to him.
I agree with Old Man Rock and DaDa on this. Jeff is Jeff and he's not a changin.....Little Dictator he is. We worried at the beginning of the year that it might get sketchy long before JVG even had a chance to shackle KB to the bench.Well,so far our worst fears have been realized. His history of not tolerating/developing rookies was something we were supposed to take in exchange for his tortured genius.Yes our record is good despite all the injuries...but the kid needs to play I realize what many including JVG want our point guard to do,but KB is a special player. Spanoulis needs to get off the pine and have the ball in his hands.Of course this is problematic because in order for him to develop it goes against JVG and our system.Well, the guy's a playmaker on offense and defense and WHEN given a chance for decent minutes, playing his game KB will blow up. It would probably be argued that we don't have the margin of error at the moment..Look at Reefer, please.KB can create. It's not one of the ten commandments that the offense has to start wit TMac or Reefer. And playing Lucas ahead of him shows how personal this is......JVG wants to break KB. KB's passion, his confidence drives him and JVG is messing with his mojo.
Hey Van Gumby, if you're so straight with everyone than how comes the same rules don't apply to Reefer? I now know for a fact that Reefer got something over you. And one more thing, if you don't want VSpan to go home according to your quotes, you can start by giving him some minutes (at the 1 mind you, not at the 2 where you know he's going to crash and burn) I'm done with this hypocrite as we called coach of the Rockets. It seems like he's more interested in his own personal agendas and saving his behind than what's best for the Rockets!
That goes both ways: V-span has won a title in Europe and T-mac is great but he's never been past the 1st round of the playoffs. I know one on one T-mac is more talented but V-span has performed better under pressure even if it wasn't in the NBA. The NBA is still the best league, but they aren't that far a head of the rest of the world any more.
