As suppose VSpan's comments of calling Rockets liars are professional? Here are some other JVG comments for your to read. If anything, I think JVG is considerate of VSpan's situation. You can accuse JVG anything, but he always has been straightforward with media and players.
yup. good coaches should be able to recognize when players respond better to freedom than to fire. tmac, vince young...players like that are stifled and underperform when they have to 'fit in' to a system. when the coach lets them play, great things happen. im not saying vspan is as good as those players, but his game personality is similar, and trying to wedge him into something he's not isn't going to help this team as much as setting him loose. as good as van gundy is at instilling a strong defensive scheme and an incredible work ethic, his offense looks absolutely devoid of any creativity or ability to take advantage of players' strengths.
I don't even want Vasquez, just Redick for Vspan. He'll be of better use. At least we know he can come off a big Yao/Mutombo screen and bomb it.
Rafers TO's have been relatively low. He does a good job protecting the ball, an running the few fast breaks we get. VSpan hasn't been productive in the minutes he's gotten. He hasn't shown that he can help this team more than he is a liability at this stage. Until he can do that, he won't get that much playing time. V-Span needs to adjust and grow a bit as a player. It is true that it would be easier if he was getting the minutes to do that. But this season isn't one where we can sacrifice the whole team for the growth of a few players. We are making a run for the playoffs and hopefully the championship. That is the purpose of why the season is played, and as long as we are chasing that goal, we need to do what is best for this team.
Take Vasquez if you can. Maybe one day he'll want to come over. What'd the deal with Reddick...lately when he plays, he's been shooting rael well. Doesn't hardly ever play though.
I know, I noticed that too...old Fran must be reading clutchfans. Thats cool to see that the people here dig up the stories, and then the Bigger guys steal them and use them...we are doing their work for them....Maybe tommorrow's article should say "TRADE RAFER"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why can't they see that when they read this site.... 2 games ago, people were talking about JVG being considered coach of the year and now they are saying he should be fired...classic bandwagon fan....JVG is much more qualified than most of us to make that decsion...I can understand VSPAN's itch to get into the game but dude, you are a rookie...you dont' get started minutes unless you are unbelievable....Luther only got them last year because of all the injuries at the guard spot...when given the chance Vspan didnt do much.....I agree he should get a few more minutes with rafer playing like rafer but still you can't go to the press and talk about leaving and being misled...this is the NBA...hire a PR guy or have your agent tell you how to act .....i'm sure this wont' get him deeper in JVG's doghouse...
ironic. how 'bout you actually comment on the topic of his post instead of posting the same assinine drivel you typically spew? and that's directed towards both of your monikers...
While....... Your basketball knowledge is second to none................................ ......when it comes to complete incompetence.
maybe vspan is right. basketball is basketball. Hey, driving a car is drving a car....i think i send that on my resume to nascar
Yes, I am with you. I am just joking. On this one, I am with JVG, but overall, I do not like the way that JVG is using his young players. The players need adjust, so does JVG. JVG plays the starters too much, resulting little time for young players.
Yes, he does. I don't blame V-Span for wanting more playing time, but he needs to realize that what he did in Greece has no bearing on what his role with the Rockets is or should be. The NBA is filled with players who were stars at one point in their career (high school, college, Europe, etc.). Some of them have continued to play at a high level: others have not. That's what happens when you have so many talented athletes playing together in one league. To take the "I was McGrady in Europe" comment another direction, it's important to remember that when Tracy McGrady came into the league ten years ago, he was not the player that we know today. He was a bench player, just as V-Span is. He did not play much his first season in the league, particularly under Darrell Walker, who, much like JVG (apparently), did not want him on the roster. The difference between McGrady then and V-Span now is that Tracy understood that in order to succeed in the NBA, he needed to put in the time to become a better player. That means not only working hard in practice, but also putting in time outside of practice, taking time to work one-on-one with members of the coaching staff, actively showing people that more playing time is warranted. Given that V-Span has nowhere near the natural ability that McGrady has, and so he will need to work even harder if he wants to play. The NBA is not a league for players who don't want to work hard. Just ask Harold Miner, Stanley Roberts, and a host of others who never even remotely fullfilled the potential they had when they entered the league.
If V-Span had been a perennial All-Star, won two scoring championships, and played well enough to warrant MVP consideration while in Europe, the comparison would be accurate. But, seeing as McGrady has done each of these things, and V-Span has not even remotely approached this level of play at any point during his career, the comparison is beyond ridiculous.
To be clear, I am not impressed with any of Tmac's accomplishments......those are all individual awards.....I want playoff vicotories !! Scoring titles...BLAH ! DD
For what it worth,Vspan was actually called Euro Kobe by the media when he was playing in Greece. So I guess that get into his head, and that is where the whole "I am Tmac back home" thing come from. And seeing A.Parker a.k.a. the Euro Jordon is starting for the Raptors must pains Vspan as well. But he really need try to keep his turnovers in check first before he demands any playing time.
