Just watched Ch. 13 and they did a little story on V-Span complaining about his playing time. JVG had some very good comments. It's not a direct quote but he said something along the lines of, "I wished he used all his energy from making his case to play to work on his game." Very true words spoken by the coach. V-Span needs to stop crying because it's doing more harm than any good for him.
True, but after dec 15, he has barely played with the vast majority of games where he doesn't even enter the game. Unless he's not practicing hard or doing well in practice, there's no way to earn playing time if you never get to play at all. With Alston averaging 41 min/game, I don't see why Alston couldn't play less and give V-Span at least 5-6 min a game.
I don't know about that the team that took Dallas to 7 should have been plenty good enough to beat Dallas and it almost did. T-mac has been in the league for a decade and has never gone to the second round. I know that irks a lot of you here and don't get me wrong I'm pulling for him to break his cold streak this year. Lets hold players accountable for results just like JVG does and lets also have one standard for G-mac and T-mac.
This is ridiculous VSpan wants to play, his quote was clearly taken out of context. Yet JVG wants him to become a player that he is not. Neither of them are necessarily wrong here. I can't believe we got a 10+ page flame war here going on over something so easy to understand.
following that thought, there is NO WAY rafer should be playing as many minutes as he is here. ever since he came to houston, rafer has been playing a career high in minutes. i can't attribute this to anything except jeff van gundy. its obvious that rafer's effectiveness decreases when he logs huge minutes, so even if spanoulis and lucas are as horrible as people here think, it is still in the team's best interest to play them occasionally just to spell rafer and keep him fresh.
No DD that's not way our coach thinks: you see if we play Snyder that means Bonzi can't play. Oh wait, if we play T-mac that means Bonzi can't play and if Bonzi plays that means he must be a perimeter shooter because he can't possible have a post game. One more thing, if the Rockets are winning than you can't possible question the coach and for the record he's never been wrong in the past about a player’s ability or any strategic coaching decisions and he can't make any mistakes in the future either. We need a JVGOF lable for this forum and a JVGOH lable too!
r****d alert!!!!!!!!!. T-mac single handedly took that team against dallas. you're beloved yao was stinking it up in that series. he had Ryan bowen as he's starting Powerforward. also he took a lottery talent level team to a 3-1 lead over the world champion pistons in 01-02 season. in the last 8 years no player has performed better in the playoffs. i know you YOF love to bash tracy, but this is just pathetic.
I wish Jeff Van Dumba$$ would spend less energy falsely accusing his players of not working on their game and actually analyze their play. He would then realize that the pickup of Rafer Alston for Mike James was one of the worst moves this franchise has ever made. SCREW RAFER! Start V-SPAN!!! Yeah... I said it.
Yes you are setting off the Re-tard alert! If you're up 3 to 1 in a playoff series aren't you supposed to win? By losing does that mean some one choked mainly the superstar of the team that suppose to carry the team when the game is on the line and lead them to victory. For the record I'm not a YOF I'm a JVGOH. Free G-mac!
You know what's also pathetic? That you had to take a slight at Yao to make a case for T-Mac. So Yao stunk it up in that series? That's news to me. Tracy took this ... Tracy had that ... so I guess Yao didn't have Ryan Bowen as his starting powerfoward too huh. Your no better than the person you just called r****d.
Since when are you a certianty to win after a 3-1 lead? there is no certianties considering dallas had a far, far,far more talented team, it was no suprise to see them bounce back the way that they did. go and do a little research. no player in the last 8 years has putup better stats in the playoffs then McGrady. as for choking in the dallas eries, it was mainly the rockets supporting group that choked. Go look at tracy and he's orlando magic teams. he has a bunch of scrubs like Armstrong , pat burk and patt garity as he's starting units. it's a miracle those teams made it to the playoffs.
I think JVG's quotes sound about like the right thing to say. I hope he won't hold a grudge and will give V-Span another chance.
Were going by facts here. the guy who is a YOF clearly is taking a shot at tracy saying he choked. well if he did, so did yao. Didnt Kobe lose a 3-1 series lead to the Suns?. does that make kobe a choker to? by he's logic it does.
I agree, but JVG is not consistent......where are those improvement demands when talking about Bonzi and his high turnovers or Rafer and his poor shot? Sure JVG has mentioned them, but there were no consequences for them...he still played them. I think V-Span needs to put a sock in it and just get better too, but he is not stupid.....he sees that things are not equal in JVG's book.....at least as far as rookies are concerned. DD
Why do you think Bonzi gets so shafted when it comes to minutes. it's because of those TO's and physical conditioning.
You win playing time in practice; if he getting abused everyday in practice by rafer and JL3 is outplaying him in practice and JVG sees this why take a chance and believe he's going to have success against guys like Nash, Parker; Jason Terry and that's just the West PG's. JVG sees these guy everyday in practice; the times i've seen VSpan he is a high turnover guy so what is he expecting ?: this is not a rebuilding team we are seriously trying to win a championship and I believe JVG is right I wouldn;t risk that by taking a chance
I wouldn't say Yao stunk it up. IIRC, his stats were pretty good, especially because Tracy kept feeding him the ball in great position. In fact, just 3 days ago I was watching R2K's highlights from Game 5 (we lost) and it was amazing how many times Tracy set Yao up for layups and slams.
