If you can not make sure Yao's situation, you better say nothing about him. Besides, you also posted what you had said here. Are you proud of the words?

wow, what can I say about this?
1.Yao cann't play for Rockets this season no matter what, maybe he can't even play for CNT this summer which he was afraid of, what do you expect?
playing through the injury and give up the rest of his career? if so, you are an idiot, sorry but it's true because you want your best player to give up future for one season. You are talking about playing through it and give Olympics and still play next season, this is IMPOSSIBLE due to his injury so your answer is ridiculous.
2.I admit Team USA would be the most TALENTED team in the Olympics, but I don't know USA winning ANY FIBA world titles for 5 or 6 years. They lost to a lot of teams who were much less TALENTED.
3.Winning is not the only reason you are playing a game in Olympics, it has much more further meanings to a patriotic man like YAO, also Kobe-will played through minor injury in the fingers and Areanas and Steve Nash-has played for Canadian NT for 10 years non-stop and Pau Gasol and blah blah blah, it's about representing your country's 1.5 billion people in your homecourt(for YAO), it's a once-a-lifetime chance and maybe you just choose to neglect this. If winning is the only reason, then all the American athelets who can't win gold medals (which i believe there are a lot of 'em)
shouldn't even go to the game.
I pretty much understand Houston fans' eager to win it since we are rolling quite well, and with YAO we had a good shot at the Championship. I also want the Rockets win, but not in the cost of our best player's career.

Everybody chill. Rockets fans and Chinese fans want the same thing, which is for Yao to fully recover. Anybody who expects Yao to come back for the playoffs doesn't understand the seriousness of his injury.

Maybe not all players on that team were superstars, but at least Kobe, TD, Jason Kidd, Karl Marlone, AI were there.

U.S. basketball team is only one of the contenders of gold medal. Even if U.S. won the title, the final would be a close game.

Many Rox fans blame "experts" - they don't give Rox props while they even don't pay enough attention to Rox games. What's the difference, you don't even watch basketball games in other countries.

i don't agree with the way you answered the reporter but it is america and you do have the right to say what's on your mind. anyways in my opinion america does have a very good chance to win the gold this year but lets not take other teams like say argentina for granted k fellas? even with that much talent on our USA roster you still can't count out other teams. you should have been at least a bit more polite with your response but whatever.

Well, no officials at CBA (China Basketball Association) are aiming that high neither. There were no talks about medalling. If I do not remember wrong, in all the past interviews where he talked about the 2008 Olympics, all Yao Ming was saying were:

    • If he misses playing in this Olympics, which will be held in Beijing, his own country, it will be the biggest disappointment/regret of his career, which is understandable, cos he won't be able to represent China anymore to play in another Olympic to be hosted in China, not in another 30 or 40 years (??)
    • He wants to give his best shot to lead the national team to end up with a position higher than 8 or 9, the highest China ever got in the past Olympics or World Championships.
    • He hinted he likes to end up 5th or 6th, which will be a historical high for China in international basketball.
