You are such a moron calling people who want to get in the playoffs non-fans. It's all about playing basketball for as long as you can. You are the one that has no business on a Rockets forum if you are rooting for the lottery. What's the difference between picks 12 and 17ish? Not much at all. I'd way rather watch four more losses (even though we would not get swept), than see us in the lottery.
Clearly, you sir are a ****ing moron. Forget idiot, like completely braindead and r****ded. Either that or you are hitting too much of the crackpipe. Please lay off it. It is very bad for your health. Here are the FACTS (clearly, your tiny or impaired brain cannot comprehend it, so I will try to break it down as easily as possible for you): #1) If we miss the postseason, our draft pick would be in the 12th-14th range. The odds of us hitting the lottery and getting a top 3 pick would be less than 1%. The only way we can get high odds if is we were to lose every single game for the remainder of the season (New Jersey, Minnesota and Washington are reallly reallly reallly realllly reallly bad). #2) While if we make the postseason, we would be in the 15th-17th range. The difference between a 12th-14th and 15th-17th pick cannot be that big in a deep draft, not with Morey drafting. #3) This is a team that battles hard and plays their heart out night in and night out. This is a young team. If they make the postseason, they will play hard (they will probably lose, but playoff experience is a good thing for a young team). #4) Do you watch every Rocket game and root against them and consider yourself a true fan? That sounds pretty r****ded if you ask me.
Exactly, at best you are losing a couple of draft spots if we make the playoffs. Chances of making any noise if we get in are rather slim but making the playoffs>>>>>missing the playoffs. Every time. Going to be tough to make it even if we start playing better. If Amare had been traded for peanuts I'd have liked out chances a lot better.
i don't necessarily agree with the OP, but JVG winning games late in the season did cost us brandon roy. if we're out of the playoff picture late, i hope we play the young guys. just think about that for a few moments... BRANDON ROY!
It is not like being an 8th seed means we are stuck in mediocrity. Our best player is out with an injury. Being mediocre is exceeding expectations. And winning can only help in the long run. It is far better than being in the end of the lottery (we WON'T get a top 3 pick, if you think we will, you are deluded).
^ I'm probably the only one that agrees with you, In taking another young high talented prospect over getting swept by the lakers... We have a pretty low chance to none at the second pick & Evan Turner, However it wouldn't be crazy to say that we could get all the way up to the 10th pick, by letting the young guys develop , which can make things really interesting... This is my wish list in order in terms of draft prospects, that are a POSSIBILITY at 10th threw 14th: Hassan Whiteside Donatas Montiejunas Cole Alrich Greg Monroe John Henson(some people would say that it would be to high of a pick for him, but his ceiling is to high to ignore) Solomon Alabi Avery Bradly Xavier Henry (man I wish we had more than one draft pick in this draft LINK ) --RB
Personally I want to watch as much Rockets basketball as I can. Losing games just to move a few spots up in the draft isn't what a fan should want. Especially when there is a lot of potential talent in this years draft.
If you cant make a thread without being insulting in the title, maybe you should re-think your need to start a thread
we wont have the 15 16 or 17 pick because the eastern low playoff seeds would have a worser record then the rockets if we make the 8th seed...
The thought of watching this team I love, hoping that they lose is just offensive to me. I guess that makes me an idiot.
That's wrong , given the difference between the records of getting into the playoffs in the east and in the west our pick would actually be at 19th through 22nd, a big difference from our current position at 12th-14th, not giving us a chance at any of the players I listed in my previous post.... I propose letting the young guy's finish the season and let see where we are at the end of the season, if were in the playoffs great, if not, lets go after high talented prospect... SMH --RB
This guy is a moron, proving you can accomplish something is far better than taking the easy way out in the long run. Perennial losing is what screws young teams over. The reason the rockets are playing with their heads high this year is b.xc they are a winning team. Losing teams will always play sub par.
