Hopefully Kyle Lowry will be one of those players. From playing minimal time as a backup to taking over the starting point guard job here in houston and now a considered borderline all-star, I know I can root for this guy cause he's always hustling and playing d.
I myself have stopped watching after the Yao/Tracy/Artest year. I would catch a quarter here and there. I mean I was constantely watching even during the Cuttino and Francis years. They were a sub .500 team for the most part, but I was following them. Maybe because we had a young and exciting team that we were trying to build around those two. The Yao-McGrady era was bitterly dissapointing and took alot out of me as a fan. I got to admit it was still exciting during those times though with the ups of the 22 game winning streak and the white boy super squad days, to the lows of the injuries and constant exits out of the first round. I just can't get in to any of these guys right now. They are just a patch up job until further notice, and this further notice is taking a long time.
Would suck if in 2 days: Kyle Lowry traded for Pau Gasol. Not only will we lose our guy, but the Lakers will also become a contender again.
Maury doesn't settle down for anyone, even his wife is an asset. Taking wife(asset 2.4) to Michael buble concert = low risk high reward. Parsons is someone I can get old with though. not gay...not that there is anything wrong with that.
I completely agree with you. On current roster, Scola is the oldest Rocket even he joined us just 4 seasons ago. We need to be settled and see how things go. Hope 2011 draftees stay with us for a long time and become franchise players. We need the face of the team.
Clearly I should have put more thought into it. At the time, I just thought it was kind of clever. I didn't realize how I was labelling myself.
This is true about Rocket's turning their roster upside down, but do u really want to see Sura or Alston or some other scrubs that were playing for the Rockets in the recent past? We had a contender with Yao and Tmac, its just bad injuries. If they were not injured, those two would be beloved too.

I don't think that's what the OP meant. We are fans of both teams AND players. If it's just team and winning, then it's pretty much no difference from a fantasy league where the players are just numbers for you. Maybe some fans just want numbers. But I want real people whom I like to root for. It's painful seeing Hakeem go even though he's washed up. It's painful seeing guys like Landry, Battier, Hayes go.
Yao and TMac were supposed to be those guys. Unfortunately, that tree got uprooted. Now we're looking for another couple of magic beans. Just be patient, we'll find 'em.
Like someone else said until you get a STAR player which Martin, Lowry, Scola, Ppat, Parsons, Dragic etc. ARE NOT, then there is no reason to be attached. Someone forward this thread to Les, another excellent reason to get off this mediocrity treadmill.
I agree completely. I legitimately feel bad for the players. This hasn't been a good situation for them and I don't like the way they are being treated. I'm fine with roster turnover, but this has been absurd. No way can I get behind a team when the players I like are in jeopardy of being traded all the time.
