just curious, but... why do some people here believe that carter won't be "3/5" or "1/2" or even close to the player mj was? 1. let's see, he already has a better "j" than jordan did at this point in his career. 2. he's a physically stronger player than mj was 3. he is more athletically gifted than mj was (hops, strength of dunking, etc.) 4. they both are extremely knowledgeable players (thanx to the great dean) the only thing mj has over vince is his accomplishments in the league, which came over time. who's to say that if vince gets surrounded by the same talent and coaching that mj had that he won't be better than mj??? i for one, am willing to bet that he can be better than mj. p.s. and that's no knock on steve francis. steve has the ability to redefine his position.
Hey guys, I have an idea. Let's trade Bryce Drew, Walt Williams, and Kelvin Cato for Vince Carter. I mean, I think he would be a great pickup for our team. I saw a highlight of him on Sportscenter, and I think he would fit our style really well. That way, if Steve Francise ever got injured, we'd have another guy besides Cuttino that could score... What do y'all think? ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
Actually, now that I think about it, we may not want this guy at all. My friend told me he's a ball hog. And I wouldn't really want to give up one of our core players in Cato to get him. I mean seriously, how many 7 foot guys are there in the league that can block like him and get all those dunks? But hey, maybe we can trade whatever's left of the exception and maybe our 2005 draft pick. By then we'll be in the Finals every year anyway, so it won't matter anymore. Will this work capologists? .... preseason hurry up.... ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -

I'll take Stevie any day of the week. By the time it's all said and done, Stevie will have the Hall of Fame #'s and 2-4 rings, with the Rockets. Vince is toooooo full of himself, he's not Jordan. PS- That dunk contest was rigged, we all know who's the "Master Jammer". ------------------ the Heat suck!!

That's just plain sick for a ROOKIE YEAR. 2.) Jordan averaged 37 points per game in like his 86-67 season or something. That's only a few years after his rookie year. NOw, while the future's still uncertain, I dont think Carter will be scoring 37 points per game any time soon. Simply put, Jordan was crazy. He was just plain crazy. He was way too competitive, and that just made him better than the rest. He'd always find a way to beat you. That's prolly the one quality I dont think anybody will have, except maybe Jordan's kids. Man, think about how scary they're gonna be. ------------------ president of the dan langhi fan club.
Oh, and I'd also take Franchise over Carter too. Carter blew up his 2nd year, but I'm pretty sure Francis will also. Both will be terrific players, but the main thing that puts Stevie over the top is that he's a point guard. Point guards are more important than SG/Sf's. Like someone already said, the Center is prolly the most important part of the team. Then comes the point guard. Point guards just have a lot more duties than sf's do, and I'd rather have a sensational pg than a sensational sf. ------------------ president of the dan langhi fan club.
The fact that you are taking Stevie over Vince can't be because a Point guard is way more important than a SF or SG, i mean they are important but look at the past 4 championship teams, the Lakers, Bulls, Spurs, and Rockets. which one of them had a star PG when they won a championship? The Rocs had Hakeem and Clyde, a SG. The lakers had Shaq and Kobe, another SG. The Spurs had the twin towers and Elliot before the kidney implant, a SF. The Bulls had Quitten and Jordan, a SF and SG. None of those teams had a star PG. They had decent PGs, but 3 of the 4 teams had superstar swingmen. Just admit that you would take Francis over Carter cause you like Francis better and you are a Rockets fan, cause I can't argue with that. I wouldn't trade Francis for Carter either, because he is my fav. player and I am attached to him. But speaking without a bias, Carter is the better player right now, and probably will be in the long run. We will see who ends up better. ------------------ "See they pick and pick and pick. Man they picked me to death." -Steve Francis on the Utah Jazz
I'd still take Steve any day of the week. ------------------ Sometimes I think I'd be better off dead. No, wait, not me...you.
I love Francis and Carter could be one of the best. I just hate doing this but I have got to call it a draw, flip a coin or something. Because I know Francis will completely change the 1 position, and Carter obviously has the stuff to be beyond great, but right now it is impossible to see which one will be better. And by the way I'd say Jordan's 1st 2 years were a little better than VC's just cuz he dropped that 63 point bomb against one of the best teams of all time; Larry Birds Celtics. Carter couldn't even score on Latrell Sprewell. ------------------ I'm not clumsy, I just have to know my surroundings.
