lalalalla, Clevland can not pay him that...they are limited by the early bird rules, the most they can pay is the Mid level exception. So, Boozer may say he is staying but 2 times the money says he is leaving. DD
Well, he's averaging 13 pts and 10 rbs right now which is just what the Rockets need from their PF position. I would love for the Rockets to bring him here. Unfortunately, if he keeps playing this well some of the teams under the cap like Denver or San Antonio could land him for more money then the Rockets could spend.
I remember when you wanted Jamison too. What is it with you and undersized PF's? You want Fizer, Jamison, Boozer.... You want MoT to start.. I don't mind having a small PF as long as they PLAY big, and these guys don't. I'd much rather wait it out because for Boozer to leave Cleveland (who can offer about 4.7M), we would have to offer him significantly more. Personally, I don't think he's worth a PENNY more than 6.5M.
Cleveland can pay him up to the salary cap. I see no reason why he should leave. They have cap space.
I love Boozer and couldn't believe he fell to the 2nd round. Still, I think his numbers are a bit skewed. After all, their only inside presence is him and Z-man. Z is too slow to get to boards, so Boozer basically gets 2 times as many boards as he would on a team like, say, the Rox. He plays in the East, keep that in mind too. Boozer would be nice, but it's a dream right now.
I like Boozer too and at 6-9" and with 30 more lbs, he is the PF that Jamison could only dream to be. He seems like a player whose willing to do the dirty work but can also surprise you with his offense. But I do think Cleveland has the cap space and even if they didn't, some team would throw more than anything we could afford. If only he was available in 2006!!
I was just thinking the exact same thing. The Rockets are stuck w/ 2 one-dimensional PFs. One plays D and rebounds, but can't score. The other is an offensive specialist and that's about it. Boozer would be a perfect fit on this team. A hard nose PF that can fill the stat books like nothing, 32points 20boards, that's crazy!! There are reports that Sheed might go to Cleveland to play w/ Lebron. If so, there should be no excuse for the Rockets not to make a hard run at Boozer this offseason. Yao-Cato Boozer-Padgett Jackson-Boki Cat-Pike Francis-Jackson
Boozer would be perfect. I watched Heat-Cavs this year, and was more impressed with Boozer than with Lebron. I think he will stay in Cleveland, though.
You can't always get what you want But if you try sometimes, you just might find you get what you need...
I thought I was the only one who felt Jason had some ability. The fact he is still NBDL makes me wonder. Boozer is 2 years and trouble for Cavs to re-sign. He may talk the talk, but money talks the talk louder and he will be spoken to. By the Rox? I hope so. Cavs cannot exceed MLE as they are over the cap.
I like Boozer. He has great hands around the basket. Not really that athletic, but uses good position and knows how to get open when guys are penetrating. Also has a pretty good mid range jumper, which could free up some space in the paint for Yao.
I agree well with DD. Actually, about one month ago, I posted a similar thread, which pointed out that Boozer is good candidate PF for ROX and JVG would love him.
Just dreaming...if we could somehow trade Mo and some crap for Rashard Lewis...then sign Boozer and Barry as free agents... PG: Francis, Barry SG: Mobley, Barry, Jackson SF: Lewis, Jackson, Piatkowksi, Boki PF: Boozer, Cato C: Yao Ming, Cato Can you imagine Ming kicking it out to Mobley, Barry, Lewis, Pike and Jackson? And Boozer cleaning up the glass if they miss?
I am sure the Sonics are pretty excited about trading Lewis for Mo Taylor + Crap. That crap will probably put the trade right over the edge. I can't wait to sign Boozer and Barry as FAs next year. I am looking forward to splitting the 4.5 MLE for both of them. I am sure they are ready for the 2.25M payday!
