Nobody goes to the games at Baylor now, they suck just like us. When UH was good, they got 45,000 at the Dome on a fairly consistent basis. UH's football team has at least been in the top 10 several times in my lifetime. I dont have anything against Baylor at all, but to say they are a better fit because they got 45,000 in 95 is ludicrus. Wanna talk about other sports? How about UH baseball, one of the best in the nation consistently. Or if you want to go to the extreme, the golf team has won a ton of national titles. Not to mention the Big 12 being represented in the 4th largest city in America, that has to be a good thing. Truthfully, its not even worth discussing, its a done deal, but I at least wanted to tell you my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I like UH. I was there in the Dome during the Run n Shoot days when they were kicking everyone's butt. Nothing beats the time they whipped UT 47-9. I think Spoon is still running down the field.

Anyway, my point is BU is doing just fine in sports and will stay in the Big 12.

Baylor sucks. Who would want to coach for a team that doesn't attract any recruits and is in Waco, TX? Oh I forgot, Baylor GIVES away $$$$$$$$.

I was looking at it more form the state and constituents perspective. Baylor is private and plays in a very small market. UH is in a large city and is state funded--so any extra money the move might have created for UH via sports attendance, merchandise, general national exposure drawing faculty, undergrads, grads, etc.--is better for the constituents and the state. In hindsight it was a totally sucky deal for the State of Texas, its state funded educational system, the city of Houston and UH. You would think UH alums, Houston politicians, and others would work to reverse that decision and kick Baylor out and put UH in--though I don’t know the details of the original compact.

remember...the decision was made in the mid to early 90's...so using data regarding baylor and/or uh from anytime after that is worthless..it's hindsight.

i don't think UH ever put 45K in the dome on a consistent basis...can you post a link to attendance numbers...and then define consistent.

in 1991 baylor was ranked 4th in the nation in football after beating colorado at colorado 4 games into the season.

golf teams??? baylor competes as well or better than anyone in the ancillary sports (not football or basketball) baseball??? baylor is consistently ranked among the nation's best as well.

facililties - the money baylor promised to spend (and has spent) on facilities beat the pants off the competition. they made a commitment with real dollars...and they've lived up to it.

the big XII is represented in houston...there are more UT and A&M alums who are here than there are UH alums. the whole idea that a school needs to be in a big city is ridiculous. for all the 4th largest city in the nation provides, it doesn't hold a candle in college athletics to places like Lincoln, Nebraska...of Tallahassee, Florida.
