I believe chows are the naturally most aggressive breed of dog. I remember reading that somewhere. In fact I'm a huge dog lover and the only dog to ever bite me aggressively is a chow. WHILE FEEDING IT!!! It decided to go for my hand instead.
Funny you mention it, but there is a litter of puppies at the city's Bureau of Animal Control (BARC) and their mother that, if not adopted soon, they will be euthanized - as in today. Send me an email if you are interested. I have photos and more information. jbalke@tworoadsmedia.com
It helps that a dog doesn’t shed, but it's the skin dander that gets most peoples allergies going.. Hairless or low shedding dogs help a little, but there is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog.. If it were me, I would go with a Boxer or a Gray Hound... Both will be OK around a cat and if you have kids later on they more than likely be great around them too..
Very good looking dogs. But I just read an article about Jacks and Cats that said you can never leave them alone together. It spoke of a Jack killing a cat it had gotten along with for nine years. Sorry. Can't do it.
Puppies are so cute and cuddily. You just want to snuggle with them, pet them, and play with them. Then, reality sets in as to how much of a pain in the ass they can be and how much work they actually are. I guess if your going to leave the puppy outside...then that is different. Good luck with that, though. I strongly believe in crate training indoors for puppies. Loose puppies...especially more than one...inside when noone's home and on the loose...don't do it. You never know what your going to come home to in those cases.
We were planning on crate training it and not leaving it outside. Does anyone know anything about schnauzers?
this is the same one I was referring to also through Scout's Honor...I've seen the pictures and they are very cute pups!
yea, it was a bit of an overstatement. when my lab is inside, he's quite calm. i leave him in while at work and the place is as good as i left it. i didn't really have to do much training with him. i guess what i meant by hyper is that they are energetic and require a good amount of exercise outdoor. he knows when it's playtime and when it's not.
There are always circumstances that lead to that. It's not the norm from what I understand. My jacks have gone up to cats and when the cats hiss they get scared and run off. For me the jacks barks are worse than their bite. I used to have big dogs like great danes because i love to wrestle them but that wouldn't work in an apartment. That's why i looked into the JRT's. Manly dogs that are small
updawg thinks you should get a rhodesian ridgeback. i've got two of them raised from puppyhood and crate trained. their 8 and arthritis is starting to set in so it's all old age from here on out. their starting to hobble around. the bigger the dog...the less years it will likely live...i believe is the rule of thumb. truth is...their still a pain in my ass...even at 8. don't get a ridgeback. lol
schipperke i have a schipperke/chow mix and she's the coolest dog, ever -- and medium-size. seriously, i also know a couple of other schipperkes that are great also. they are a bit small, but if you can find a mix, they are awesome.
I'm sure she is. And every dachshund I have met, I liked. I just want something with a little more size. Not much more size, just a little.
My gf got a beagle a year and half ago and it is an awesome dog! I know they have a reputation of being annoying howlers but she is the opposite. She is quite, almost never barks or howls, and is very obedient and loyal. I guess we got lucky not to get an annoying one. Very cute:
