Well Rip I am impressed with your honesty, but even though I have the "best seats" in the house, center court 5-6 rows up I still didnt mind when people came down when it was half full. I am fortunate to have my father pay for the tickets but not everyon can afford the ridiculous prices they charge and its usually the die hard fans that cant come. I just hope the arena sells out a lot of games because it will be a waste of a new arena if its half full.
The Chron said today there will be an open house in late September and the public will be invited. I never asked for anything and didn't expect anything. I just wanted the team to stay in town. The Rockets have always been very appreciative. Boy, I wouldn't mind some nachos though.
Can't speak for everyplace, but Atlanta's has both. It is useful, EXCEPT, if there is something important on the end-screen AND you are sitting upper bowl behind the basket on either side, you can't see either of the end screens. One of them is up and behind you, the other one is on the other side, but the center display blocks it.
Oh yeah that's right! I've been the Philips Arena various times. You can always find great seats available there.
lol my bad its been a long day at work so far....i cant believe a smart ass like me didnt pick up on the sarcasm
Thanks, Tim...that's EXACTLY what I wanted to hear. Anyone who has been to a game knows how horrible the video screens are in Compaq. A great scoreboard/video board can really add to the entertainment and I think people will notice right away. Also, is the video introduction being worked on right now? Most teams open with a cool animated video before the team introductions and I would assume the Rockets would be no different? How much work goes into that?
Jeff: You said the seats had more leg room, I want to know if the width of the seats is the same - if they narrowed them I will be un-happy! Also, how did you like the contour (design) of the seat - was it comfortable, any drink holders installed? Thanks
I didn't sit down in them - they were covered in plastic. The way I checked the leg room was to walk in between one of the aisles and it was a lot easier to get through. I didn't feel like an aisle seat would have to stand up every time someone in the middle wanted to go to the bathroom which is good. As for width, I know that they are wider because I sat in the sample seats they had available a couple months ago. They definitely felt bigger to me and I know Tim has said they are wider. I did not notice if the seats had cup holders. I wasn't looking that close, unfortunately, but I know they said they were going to have them. Also, just as a side note, the seats were DARK red in color. I guess that would add to the theory that one of the primary colors of the new uniforms is dark red.
Or Francis, or Mobley, or Mo Taylor, or Cato, or Rice, or Collier, or Griffin... The only two that seem to be spared vicious criticism by "fans" are Yao and Nachbar. Posey seems immune as well, but I see that status changing quick if he resigns with us over the summer. I've never understood how most of the posters on this BBS can root for a team when they hate the players so much.
Amen! I can see being irritated at players that screwup...but damn! some of these people act like they want the players dead, their families dead, their dogs dead...and their houses burnt to the ground and the earth salted. and they call themselves fans...
I've never complained about Francis, Cato, and Posey. I just always feel the need to stand up for them.
The cushions are dark red, the rest of the seat is black. Could black be a color in the Rox new color scheme to go along with silver and crimson
