y'all don't do "and 1." when i play people either just yell and one when they're fouled or if it goes in we just ignore the foul call. i hate people who make weak calls too. i'm not exactly tough or physical when i play but if i get slapped or hit and nothing is majorly affected i won't call it. now if you slap me on the arm and the ball gets stolen b/c of it i'll call a foul most of the time just b/c i ain't losing the ball b/c you fouled me. hell i probably let myself get fouled more when shooting than if it gets stolen. maybe i'm stupid. what i really hate are people who drive every single time and are out of control about 80% of the time yet feel the need to call a foul every time there is contact. stop driving if all you're gonna do is throw yourself into people dammit. and calling travelling? who the hell does that. you have to take one hell of a bunch of steps to get travelling called (at least at gregory). most of the time the other team just kinda looks at each other and does the little travelling signal but no one calls it. i wouldn't have taken the ball home just b/c i'm to into playing and too competitive to leave in the middle of a game of anything, much less a 12-12 game of bball.
I had this happen once, I scored a game winning layup and after they said I was out of bounds, I replayed it, they ended up winning. As I walked off I just yelled "Hey, Thats Some ****in ****" and walked away. Felt pretty good.
I have played in countless pickup games over the years and played with several a-holes but I have NEVER seen a player just quitting in the middle of the game unless do to an injury or having to leave for something like time constraints. And taking the game ball to boot! Now that takes some huge stones to walk out on a game with everyone waiting to finish. I assume there was an extra ball and a replacement player that could fill in for you. If not then I would have been p'od at you if I was playing.
I voted yes, but I would've finished the game and then kicked the guy's ass when he went for some water.
Take the ball and go home!?!? Screw that, I'd d up on him and **** up the little prick. And then when I got the ball I'd call every lil p***y foul I could. In fact, I just did that today and it was pretty fun.
Rather than taking the ball home....play him....and give him a good reason to call fouls....make sure that if he calls fouls....he had a forearm shiver or a knee to the thigh.
I can't stand playing street ball with idiots who think they are NCAA refs. Freaking touch fouls don't count for **** and it better be damn obvious if I travel if you are going to call it. It is called a pick up game, not the freaking playoffs. I ain't the tallest dude on the playground and if some taller dude gets position on me I just wrap him up so he doesn't have a chance. And then I tell him I got 99 more to give. This is street ball. Not freaking the NCAA's. Nothing is more lame in street ball than playing against the ref. Anyway I would have just told him that I don't play with cameltoes and moved on.
There are too many Michael Jordan wannabes on the Asian courts. Funny thing is their **** would get packed so fast on the other side.
I know this is going to sound corny but... Godd going,u were the bigger man out of the 2! (sorry for a bad translation of an expression... ) ALA
Personally, I would have finished the game. I mean, just because one guy is being an ass does not mean you should punish the rest. Its times like this that I enjoy taking some guy to school. It actually gets me to play harder, like i did 30 pounds ago .
If someone wants to call weak fouls, let them. They'll be marked as nancy boys. Just foul them harder next time. On the flip side, some people take pick up games a bit too personal. They treat fouls as a direct hostile act aimed at injuring them. A couple of guys I play with seem to be too proud to call fouls and will swear out loud at no one in particular to voice their displeasure. Contact happens. Just call the foul and stop acting like an a$$. Dadakota should've stayed and finish out the game. I'd rather stay and be annoyed than giving him the pleasure of making you leave.
