1. totally agreed. marc v. is just flat out informative. without trying to be something it isn't...without trying to be anything other than a sports radio program. 2. i'm with you on Rome..you know that...EXCEPT during Super Bowl week. but his style is so stale it's silly.
Congrats Chance, you scored a dream job. As a U.H. communication student wanting to get into radio, you have the best job in Houston. The only thing I would change is the annoying hostility between David Dalati and Laura Reynolds. It used to be really bad, I almost called in just to tell them both to shut that crap up. And never take the pic of Rockets Power Dancer Jessica off the site. Ever. Period.
Holy ****. How did I miss this thread? Congratulations on landing this job. I am envious of your job. You are the man! Wow. I like sporting news radio better than espn radio. I hate the dan Patrick Show. Rid of it. I would like rome on at 11am to 2pm. 2pm-4pm of some other guy. 4pm-8pm of rich and chuck. 8pm-10pm of Matt Jackson. Get rid of that crap you guys have on at sunday nights. I don't have money to gamble, so why would I want to talk about spreads. I play fantasy sports, but I go to websites to get my info. I don't need radio shmucks to tell me which QB and which RBs to start. Have some remotes. Remotes are always fun.
This is getting interesting.. I have a favor. Here is what you need to do and I swear to you I will do everything I can to make changes. In this thread post a list of the things you like about 610. Also list specific things over the past 6 or 7 years that were memorable. Don't read other peoples. Read this post and then click reply. You can read other people stuff later. I say this because if you read someone elses and then remember something from what they wrote but would not have recaleld it otherwise it would be inaccurate. PLEASE DO THIS. Even if you don't like my station let me know what works and what you remember. For example: 1. I love the sportsflashes on the twenties. 2. I remember Collie 3. etc.... 5
I hated Sporting News radio. I always thought those guys had something against Houston for whatever reason. I'll say it again: ESPN gets much better guests.
I remember on 610 this dude from Australia phoned in and asked ex-rockets coach and all around legend Rudy T a great question on the Charlie and Rich show ........ and everybody loved it.... rumour has it JVG is scared to do radio cause of Smeg
Thanks Faos. That's exactly what I need. But I need a BUNCH of posts like that to compile data and see what the hell is going on here. Again...tell me the specific memorable and compelling moments you recall. Tks.
1. I liked the Rudy T show...a coaches show would be nice. 2. I liked Sporting News Radio...seriously. 3. I liked the live remotes. Oh yeah. I especially liked Slapfest!
I do agree that Sporting News people might have something against Houston. I just like their latenight, and overnight show. The rest I wouldn't know about. More live remotes, so I can see Laura Reynolds. And when I mean remotes, does it always have to be Buffalo Wild Wings?
Somehow get Eddie Johnson to Houston and give him a show. When that guy played for the Rockets and would come on radio, he was great.
I thought I'd chime in again to promote a Van Gundy show. Although college baseball is a bit of a nicehs port these days, it would be cool if Wayne Graham maybe had a small segment each week during the season. Who's going to be doing the baseball shows this year? D-Ham signed with some other station, right? I don't know if you could work it out financially, but a Dierker show would be nice.
Met Chance yesterday out at Sherlocks (in addition to answering a trivia question on the radio and winning an ugly t-shirt and a Super Bowl program), and all I have to say is that Chance is a b*stard.
And I must add that RM95 smells of tar and the two teeth he actually has are dirty. A bigger scoundrel I have never met and would never want to hang out with again. Unless of course beer was involved and then I would be there in a second. Nice meeting you bro. I was pleased to see you were not a trekkie lookin' Gandolph fan. Let's do it again! Chance
Ditto. I'm always surprised that more people here don't look like complete massive tools. Except for Drewdog.
I would like your help. We are going to have a weekly segment where coach Van Chancellor and his distinguished voice reads scripts that do not fit his voice. He will be reading Shakespeare, 50 Cent lyrics, Marilyn Manson, The intro from Tale of two cities, etc... What suggestions do you guys have for him to read. We want to do about 20 of them.. Chance
