Let me know when you cats are eating lunch. If I'm not in court, or otherwise disposed, I'd love to join you guys if you don't mind.
Internet people... through a deal with aol we are broadcasting the afternoon hours (4 - 10) on aol radio. you have to be an aol guy but it's a step...
yes, yes, yes. 610 streaming online would be awesome. especially since i live in san marcos and don't get 610. and that sucks. BTW, congrats man. that's like a dream job.
My suggestions: No one likes the Dan Patrick show. Since it's tape delayed, either replace that time slot with local guys (It would be great to hear David or the weekend guys get a shot at an acessible time slot), or just give use some other ESPN programming, such as Tony Kornheiser. I would actually prefer LESS McClain. That is unless he brings down the Tenessee Titans talk down a notch. That team no longer plays here, John. In case you didn't hear, we have a new team. Try covering them. Jeff Van Gundy show. I think he's hillarious and pretty insightful once you understand his personality. Rudy had a show that hasn't been replaced, so there's definitely time available. Unban Kiley, or however you spell his name. I don;t care if he was always talking out of his @ss or not...Dude made the shows entertaining. Improve the website. It would be nice if the 610 website had a forum similar to this one. It would be great for arranging pick-up basketball/football/baseball games since lot's of us grown ups would still love to play, but don't really know where to find a game with people our age. Continue the strained relationship with Harmon. My fridays are so much better now that i don't have to listen to that pompous a-hole any more.
Not true. I like the Dan Patrick show. It's only delayed by one hour from what I've heard so it's not a big deal. I'll ask this question again: what "local" guy that isn't already working a shift do you want to work that shift? Jeremy Foster? Are you kidding me? Be careful what you wish for. I do have an idea of who would be a good local guy: Craig Roberts. He's pretty funny when he is on the radio and certainly has the gift of gab. But I still say keep the national shows because they can get guests the local guys can't. Chance, Another suggestion: Unplug Mark Vandermeer's sound effects board. That is sooooooo freakin' lame and small market sounding, imo.
I know most of you aol users are reluctant to express your relian....um...use of aol but do a keyword search for sportsradio610 and there will be a listen in button starting each day at 4. The live show will be on Sunday as well starting at 2. Guys ya'lls (is that a word?) input is AWESOME!!!! I swear to you I am using it. Chance
Yo Blatzie.... Lighten up bud...I wasnt jumping on no-one. I just happen to have edited out the actual Smeg call from the full-length show...and thought I would share it for those that hadnt heard it. No harm, no foul chill... WTG Chance...get rid of that ass-wipe Rome and I might actually listen when Im on the road between jobs around the noon hour...he just irritates me, so I change it as sooon as I get in the car.. needless to say...More Rockets Talk..
1. No more Dick Harmon. Ever. 2. No more gambling stuff. I dont want to hear what the line of the Cowboy game is, I want to watch it and enjoy it. If you want betting lines, buy a newspaper or go on the internet. 3. More sports talk and less "guy talk" I tune in for sports. I allready get stuff, fhm, and Maxim magazine and there is more than enough "guy talk" on tv allready. I have many more suggestions but I gotta run.
As someone who listens to 610 AM religiously and keeps my bedroom radio tuned into the station 24 hours a day, 365 days a week, here are my thoughts and suggestions: 1. No more of this "House building hour" on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It just started again recently after a long hiatus. I like to hear ESPN radio while I work out on Sat. and Sun. mornings (Mel and Andy, Dan LeBatard, etc.) 2. Why is there no sports talk on Sunday nights? I keep 610AM tuned into the radio in my bedroom 24 hours a day, and fall asleep listening to the night programming. Every Sunday night, I'm forced to listen to some generic, national political call-in show. I hate it! 3. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I find Marc V.'s show to be worthless and devoid of value. I would much prefer to hear ESPN's Tony Kornheiser show from the 9am-12pm slot. We get enough local yahoos calling in with their "takes" on the morning and evening local shows (which are very good). 4. If we must be stuck with Marc V., why delay Patrick? Why not just join him while already in progress? I don't understand the decision behind this. I much prefer to hear live radio (from the middle) than tape-delayed radio. But again, maybe that's just me? Good luck Chance!
Uh, if you want sports talk that's not devoid of value, you need someone other than Kornheiser. My nephew, who knows nothing about sports, knows a little bit more than this moron. I'm guessing because Rome is live and has much better ratings here in Houston than Patrick.
Kornheiser at least is humorous. Marc V. is not. His monotone voice puts me to sleep. And he really doesn't bring anything "fresh" to the table that isn't covered by the morning and afternoon guys. Kornheiser's tangents and wide array of topics are different from the norm, which is why I love them so much. Marc V.'s show is the same old drivel. But I guess you can't bash "the voice of the Texans" in Houston without a public backlash, now can you? As for Patrick, you didn't answer my question. Why not join him in progress? Why the tape-delay? Who cares if we miss the first hour. I'd rather hear live radio than delayed. It's annoying (to me).
I enjoy his shows especially when he has Matt Bullard in studio. How about a Matt Bullard hour once a week in the afternoons? That way you can take care of the Rockets Talk hour people want, and have Air Bull as the host. Bullard should be able to get a player from the team every other week. Maybe the 5:00 hour on Thursdays, perfect for the drive home, and a better chance of getting a player on the air. B
Congrats Chance, this is awesome! Here are my suggestions: 1. Less commercials. I don't know if this is possible, because I know the station has to make money, but come on! I swear there is a commercial break every 10 minutes. 2. Tell Marc V. to stop using all of those ridiculous sound effects! Everytime I hear "Sweeet" I want to smash my radio in.
I like the Marc V. show. I listen to it when I am on my way back from the morning docket. Informative without being cheeseball. I think that it is time for Rome to go. He has gotten stale and I honestly think he is narcolpetic. Those long pauses are actually really short naps he is taking. "More Ref and less Rome makes for a better show."
