NBA! Its Manic-DEPRESSIVE! I know exactly what you're talking about Jeff. I go through feelings like that during a game but generally can pull it back together after the buzzer.
Jeff is right on target about the violent mood swings on this board. I think that it's mainly due to having too many people OD on the Rockets red koolaid before the season started which raised expectations to an unreasonable level. And when those expectations don't get met, things start to get real ugly around here with name-calling and assorted b****ing and moaning. Not to mention the constant dredging up of old threads like the Bonzi-Bobby J trade thread. Folks just need to pull back on believing that this team was/is championship ready because it's clearly not. Even with a healthy Yao & Landry in the fold, it still had a few issues to work through before that becomes a reality. Things are finally headed in the right direction after 12 years of mediocrity. Shouldn't that be enough to placate even the uberfans here for a while?
The Rockets organization and their marketing machine must shoulder some of the responsibility. They pump up expectations to astronomical levels. The streak was amazing, and reality was distorted, but the return to earth is surely going to be bumpy. I don't blame the fans, a natural human response. No, the Rockets are likely not a contender. I wanted them to be. No they are not going to win the rest of their games. I wish they would. No, they are not likely to go through the playoffs undefeated. That would be incredible. One thing for sure, I really enjoyed the streak.
I enjoyed the streak as well. It was refreshing to see all of the unfettered joy on the board. The Rockets will win again - they won't win it all but they should do just fine in the playoffs.
If they get in it, which I think they will, maybe they learned something from the streak that will help them. They won't, however, catch teams off guard with their intensity, because everyone is that way in the playoffs.
We are all a little crazy over the Rockets, but that's understandable...I mean c'mon, we were spoiled for 22 straight games...I do believe we'll start a new streak, but it won't be great than 5 games long, IMHO...I just want us to get into the playoffs and win the first round...
In 1993 the Rockets started the season 22-1 then lost two in row and 3 out of 4. And yes, those two losses in a row and that third loss were blowout losses. Oh, and they went on to win the championship that season. Not saying we're winning the championship this season but I feel real good about next year because of our new young talents, Scola & Landry. This season is more like our 1992-1993 season in that that years team began Jan 1 below .500 then had a 15 game win streak and an 11 game streak in the second half. That team layed the groundwork for the 2 championship seasons that followed. 2007-2008....Just laying that groundwork again...CHAMPS IN 2009!
Wow...some of the people on here are f in crazy. I'm not going to panic because we are in a race to win the SW division and make the playoffs. We just need to win. Furthermore we have a shot at the #1 seed. The celtics and hornets came out and punched us in our mouths. Players and fans need to lick their wounds and focus on the next game. This was supposed to be hell week...streak or no streak. We knew the chances of getting out of this week with the streak intact were slim to begin. Jump off if your going to jump off...stop bashing...stop hitting the panic button...show up to TC and cheer loud cause our team is still in the hunt.

Sometimes I wonder how this BBS would've handled the Championship years...can you imagine the what it would've been like during the Suns series in 94? Yikes!
