I think we have waited enough, what is up with Griffin?

Nice post Land Shark. Give 'em hell! I couldn't agree with you more. Griffin will be good. It is going to take him a little longer, however, than many want or expect. He has all of the physical tools of a super star players. he just needs to add some poundage to his stick frame. It actually looks as if he can do that, if he hits the gym really hard. I'm sure the Rockets are insisting that he spend time in there, anyways. His other roadblock is the mental aspect of the game. He seems quite timid and shy at times on the court. He's still learning the game, which is why he seems out of place and offbeat at other times. Don't worry about him, though. Once his minutes improve, he'll get more used to the system, and begin learning what it will take to play that position. I think he knows that he is destined to play the 4 spot with his incredible defensive presence. EG has a drive to be the best too. He said he wants to someday be the all-time shot block record-holder. He needs to develop a little more fluidity out there. He needs to just play and let the natural elements come to him. if he does that, his jumper, and inside offensive scoring moves will improve, and he'll muzzle the critics.

20-10 guys?. Rice has been or close. Taylor could be. KT should be. If Eddie isn't in 2-3 years then he IS a bust. Yao certainly should be by late next year. TMo may have that capability.

Eddie should be the go to guy with the second unit, off the bench, or he will never develop an inside game. The hype has worn off and he has not developed enough to warrant starting. He should be kept but not start until he earns it. He is getting his minutes because Rudy has to justify the trade and because of the defensive deficiency of everyone not named Thomas, Yao, Hawkins and maybe Cato. The team will suffer in the long run for this short term solution. Sit Eddie down and put him in situations where he can learn and succeed. Off the bench!

If MoT is known for good first quarters, why not start him?

Eddie comes off the bench for :

    Defensive asistance
Develop inside game vs. opposing teams' bench forwards.

Developing Eddie is more important than wins now. I'd rather have an allstar for years to come. Why sell out on developing an all-american talent ? To buy an early playoff exit, and a disgruntled, half-ass talent for one contract ? This guy is a Mc Donald's All-American and a # 7 pick, in our hands. If we can't help build him into a player, shame on us. Rudy should pick his spots to develop Griffin and Nachbar for the real playoff run, two years from now. These guys need reps and confidence. Mo T and Rice are good for bringing along our picks, let them start - but get the kids some time in.

Do you ever read those articles that talk about how long it takes US players to develop compared to international players?

Jermaine O'Neal is the key example of this. Now, would you rather have a no-defense international player that's almost ready out of the gate, or Eddie Griffin...who by the way will be a stud by age 22 guaranteed.

You won't be able to measure his studlyness by stats. He'll only get 15 or so points, but thats just because of the team he plays on.

My thoughts exactly. It seems that Mo T. and Yao have good chemistry together when it comes to passing so they need to bee in together.

i agree as well. if ming is going to continue to start than mo probably should too. at some point in the future ming and griffin can be a fearsome block-shot tandem but as of now mo has more chemistry with ming than maybe anyone.

Well Griffin did not show up again last night, but you could say that about the whole team. Griffin lookied as lost as he ever had, I wonder if Miami would trade him for Caron Bulter....

Looks like RudtT is getting frustrated with Grifffin too. I starting to wish we never traded for him in the first place. I say trade him, becasue there will have to be takers on him because he has so much potential. Someone else on this broad said something about trading for Pau Gasol and I like that idea, we could trade Griffin and try to work something out.

Griffin isn't doing bad at all. If we trade him, I wouldn't be the happiest fan. What is to say that Griffin doesn't have an injury?
If he doesn't pull his 33% shooting up, he needs to stay after at practices, work longer at the gym, and stay on the bench a little longer.

I don't want to wait on him, I want a player that can play right right now. Griffin is not going to play that good anytime soon.

All right after watching the game last night I don't think Eddie is going to breakout anytime soon. He may become a good or even a great NBA player in the future but I don't want to wait for him to get good. I think the Rockets need to go for the Championship this year, not in 3 years. I wish there was a way we could get Elton Brand, who would be perfect for this team. Brand can block shots, rebound and is atleast a 15ppg\10rpg\3bpg guy a night. We could realy use him. Thing is how could we get him from the clippers without trading Mobley? I think we could try Griffin and Thomas for Brand, because the Clippers are going to lose brand as a Free Agent, but Idon't think they would do it. Maybe they would take Cato and Griffin, knowing they are going to lose Kandi Man, Cato and Griffin would be a cheaper version of Kandi and Brand. I would do allmost anything to get Brand, Francis\Brand\Yao would be the best Big 3 in the league!
