Jordan was railed on in the media, but to say that he performed terribly, or that he was embarrassed shows how young you (hopefully) are. He hit 252. in the Arizona Fall League against top prospects, and .202 while batting in 51 and stealing 30. For a 30 year old learning on the fly with the biggest target on his back in the history of AA hitters, that all doesn't sound all that too shabby to me. Reinsdorf said he would have used him as a fourth or fifth outfielder had that not been the shortened year because of the lockout. Hell, his own manager, Terry Francona, said he was about two years away from reaching his hitting potential, and possibly the majors. Kobe, save for him scoring some more OGs, would be glamorized in the long run for every step of success he achieved if he went the soccer route, however little, not to mention the incredibly broad expansion of his already global image could stand to make him billions, and truly larger than life. IMO he stands to gain much of the same brand expansion from playing basketball abroad, but soccer would tap into the largest sports market in the world, otherwise largely untapped, many of whom otherwise wouldn't know Dream from Shaq. It could be far more lucrative in the long run. Soccer wouldn't be an embarrassment. Probably not. I don't know.
