I'm glad to know that I have such influence that I can give every single Rockets fan a bad name. Mihm has talent, that I do not deny, but right now he is extremely foul prone, and often doesn't play very often because of this. Also, what is his natural position, power forward, or center? that too, must be answered. Thomas is a hard worker, with good post moves. Of course, there is a cieling placed upon how high he can go due to his short stature. Right now, I believe kenny is better than mihm, and I find it hard to believe you can adamnatly state what every other NBA team would do.
by the way DV, if we need a player like steve to set up our potent, highcharged offense, why do we have such a problem with: a) running a fastbreak b) scoring in the halfcourt c) getting "easy" shots and are you telling me that a highcharged offense requires a highscoring point guard??? tell that to utah (for the past 12 years) or any of jason kidd's teammates.
tell that to utah (for the past 12 years) or any of jason kidd's teammates. Our winning percentage with Steve the last two seasons is roughly equivalent to most of Kidd's Suns' teams throughout his career. This season with New Jersey is an exception, because of the horrific state of the Eastern Conference. And for Utah, let me know when we get a post player the caliber of Karl Malone.
This from a guy who traded Jerry Stackhouse and Ben Wallace for Jamal Mashburn and late 1st round pick
KT is better right now, but I see no way of KT doing anything more as long as he is a Rocket, coming off the bench. Mihm has the potential to be a very solid C, something that is lacking on 90% of the NBA teams. It's like asking me if I'd trade an average OF for a young pitching prospect.
In this iso nonsense offense a point guard such as Miller or Stockton would be a complete waste but it's irrelevant to Miller's quality. Quite obviously Miller is quite a bit more than solid. Miller is pretty high up on the list of point guards right now.
KT is better right now, but I see no way of KT doing anything more as long as he is a Rocket, coming off the bench. What does this have to do with 28 other teams? Mihm has the potential to be a very solid C, something that is lacking on 90% of the NBA teams. Really? 90% of the teams don't have a solid center? Hmm... Shaquille O'Neal Alonzo Mourning Dikembe Mutombo Marc Jackson Brad Miller Keon Clark David Robinson Raef Lafrentz Dale Davis Michael Olowokandi Vlade Divac Theo Ratliff Elden Campbell Todd Maccullough Ben Wallace Ervin Johnson Eddy Curry Jahidi White/Brendan Haywood There's not a player on this list I wouldn't rather have Mihm instead of, and that's not even considering some centers like Kelvin Cato (inconsistency) and Marcus Camby/Jermaine O'Neal (size). That's quite a bit under 90%.
The point being, when DV and Pued replied to your post they were basing it on the proposal you had posted BEFORE the edit. From the ever so cool capitalizing of assume in the manner which you did, I can only assume that you are an ass. Others have posted mu thoughts on the topic at hand already.
It's really not that bad of a trade. However, if we were looking to break up the "clique", it'd start with Moochie Norris. I think if you get a "pass first" guy off the bench with veteran savvy, it'd throw everything else into place...shouldn't we be looking at Jon Barry? I think we could only trade Steve if he first provides doubts on his future in Houston...if he questions the Rockets' future, why would Cleveland trade for him? Steve is a bigger star than Milller, and would have more suitors. Cleveland needs to rebuild, and I think Steve would be highly unlikely to want to play there. Maybe if Eddie and Steve couldn't co-exist, but we don't know that, and both will always have large markets. Cat-In the NBA today, I'm not sure a good PF has more value than an average center.
unless i missed something, we currently have 3 power forwards on this team going into next year: motay, kt, and griff. it is been discussed time and time again that we don't need all three, and the person most likely to go is KT. it has also been wide chronicled how much we could use an extra big body. mihm fills that need. so, comparing mihm's stats with kt's stats doesn't make any difference, especially when you consider that mihm is sharing minutes with ilgauskas in cleveland and kt is starting in houston (and is a primary offensive weapon). second, i absolutely cannot believe what i am hearing: um, we've been to the playoffs how many times? and, since when do you have to have a score first point guard? last time i checked, that was the exception, not the rule. point guards, by trade, set up their teammates first, then look to pass. i have absolutely nothing against francis. i love his game. but, honestly, miller is a better "point guard". that translates into the team being better, not worse. this gem came from The Cat. more assists does not equal more scoring, huh? The Cat, again. well, let's just stop the nba draft after pick #7. The Cat with the encore... possibly the greatest point guard in history or a scoring, turnover prone, erratic, refuse to push the ball shooting guard turned point guard? hard choice, cat...hard choice...
I don't understand the obsession with Andre Miller. The Rockets are 18-17 with Francis in the tough Western Conference, while the Cavs (a team with a lot of veterans, believe it or not) are 21-36 in the easy East. They've had Andre for the whole season. For the third straight season, the Cavs will be under .500 in the east. The Rockets will likely finish above .500 with Steve in the lineup for the second straight year, in a ridiculous conference. Forget Miller.
The obsession with Miller is that he's a heck of a player and may not resign with Cleveland. In addition, many people including myself believe Francis would be better served at the scoring guard position and if we added someone like Miller we could move Steve and maximize his scoring potential instead of playing him out of position.
So you tell a guy he gives Rockets fans a bad name and then call him nuts, only to say that, "uh, yeah Kenny is better right now, but maybe in some unforeseeable future Mihm will be better." Why couldn't you have just given the above reply in the first place?
Trade Steve? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH<COUGH>HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA(COUGH)HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHHAHAHAHAHA(bathroom break)............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ whatever. Jump ship because we are having a not so good season for christ sake our team is limping! half are injured
I wouldn't mind moving Steve, but I would try to get Duncan instead of Miller. I think that the Spurs are going to have a hard time holding onto Timmy. If we could sign Francis to an extension next season, maybe the Spurs would be amicable to sign-and-trading there departing superstar for ours that is locked up for a long time.
Andre Miller... Ranks #1 in the NBA in Assists Per Game(10.7) Ranks #11 in the NBA in Free Throws(264.0) Ranks #15 in the NBA in Free Throw Attempts(329.0) Ranks #1 in the NBA in Assists(601.0) Ranks #8 in the NBA in Assists Per Turnover(3.38) Ranks #4 in the NBA in Double-doubles(32.0) Ranks #2 in the NBA in Triple-doubles(3.0) Ranks #1 in the NBA in Assists Per 48 Minutes(14.1)
I gotta agree, there are only a handful of players I would give up Steve for. Miller is a good player, but unless that #1 pick can land us a legitimate potential superstar like Steve, its not really worth it. Some interesting prospects could slide to that spot (Quental Woods, Stoudamire, Wagner, Gooden). Again its personal opinion, but I see Steve as a future all-nba pg, and Miller as a honorable mention.
