Trazidone is awful. When you're having severe back pain and can't get to sleep, you end up trying everything. I had poor luck with that and it just made me tired the next day. Ambien is nothing like that at all.

No not at all but if you had been watching them recently that might explain your dreams.

I recommend the natural stuff like valerian root or melatonin.

Stay away from prescription anything, or suffer the consequences.

I agree. Try all the non-prescription stuff first. They work for a lot of people without the side-effects. Wholefoods has a potent one, but they don't recommend it for prolonged use (can't remember the active ingredient), because it can stress the liver over time (like take too much of many things can). Valerian root is considered as harmless as it gets.

    FranchiseBlade,

If you haven't heard in the news recently, the stories of people sleep walking on Ambien have started conversations regarding the safety of it. My friend uses it and lives by himself. He has told me some wacked out stories about doing things that he couldn't remember. He never made it out the door, but others have. You are lucid enough to do complicated things like eat, chat on message boards, and talk on the phone, but you can't freaking remember it the next day.

here's a washington post article from last year

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/13/AR2006031301317.html

npr just did a story on it within the last month, too.

It's true that you can have someone "wake you up," talk to them, and remember none of it the next day (as I mentioned to FB). And there are documented instances of sleepwalking, etc., but they are unusual, not the norm for the vast majority. If you aren't planning on having conversations in the middle of the night, and are simply trying to set a solid night's sleep when other remedies haven't worked, I would suggest it to people. I know half a dozen who use it on occasion, but not regularly. Like anything, it isn't for everyone.

I tried Melatonin and every other natural remedy I could befor. Melatonin actually worked for several days, and then stopped working.

I will just try and ride it out for a bit. If it doesn't work, I will get some Ambien, and if I have any incidents of sleepwalking or anything I will stop it.

As long as I don't call someone from work in the middle of the night, and start yelling at my co-workers, I should be ok.

FB, you won't do that. You're more likely to get a call in the middle of the night and not remember it, or have sex with your girlfriend and not remember that! ;)
