About 14 years ago, I was driving home on Westheimer about 5 blocks west of the Galleria at about 2:15am (yes nothing good happens after midnight) when I witnessed a drive by shooting. Never did find out if the person being shot at was hit. I did flag down a cop about 3-4 minutes later about 5 blocks further down. I told her the assailants had just blown by her about 1 minute earlier and included a description of the vehicle. Listen to this.... The cop TOLD ME TO GO BACK TO THE SCENE and tell the cops there! First of all, the assailants just drove past you. Second of all, by the time I get back to the site, they will be long gone. Third of all, I ain't going nowhere near that shooting site. Finally, about 5 minutes later she took my statement. I figured I'd be contacted as a witness one day. Never happened.
