professorjay, sorry to see the Tribe choke like dogs and lose 3 in a row. That's exactly what happened and they don't deserve to go to the World Series. And that 3rd base coach really let them down by not sending Lofton. You can't make a bigger mental mistake in such a crucial situation. The double play on the next pitch let the air out of the Indians' tires. That killed them. Game and series over. Another stake in the heart of longtime/longsuffering Cleveland sports fans who I think deserve a championship.
Ive been a Sox fan for quite sometime. I do think it is kind of hypocritical how they used to call the Yanks The Evil Empire because of their giant payroll, yet theirs is just in the Yanks rearview mirror. Nevertheless, if the Sox, Patriots, and (never gonna happen) Celtics all win titles this year for the New England area..... Ill be very jealous, lol
Could someone please show me how to show a musical song on here other than youtube? "Pine Box? is where I'd like Boston fans to be right now. It is almost like God is catering to a bunch of lame-ass, hippie lovin' pieces of crap. Next time I see some stranger from Boston, I'm punching them in the face. (and no, I don't mean Tom)
You're not a fan because you're happy they win. You know you're a fan when they lose and you feel like dog crap because of it. In the truest sense of the word, the only baseball team I'm a fan of is the Houston Astros. I like some other teams...but I'm not upset when they lose.
Thank you sir. And you're right, there's no excuse for losing 3 straight. Red Sox fans irritate me more than Yankee fans, w/ their 'woe is me', attitude. How self-centered and egotistical could you be? As a Cleveland fan, I'm used to losing. We've had our share of close calls, but it's not some stupid curse. Hell, I've watched our team move to Baltimore, only to win the freakin' Super Bowl a few years later. I've accepted my fate. That's why I'm grateful the Browns are 3-3. It's the little things now. As it is, I've already booked a flight to Denver. Not because I was overconfident when we were up 3-1, but I figured I take my chances and save a few bucks on the plane ticket. It's not a loss for me though, my main goal was to visit a buddy in Denver and also check out the city, I figured I could knock out two birds w/ one stone. Oh well. As of right now, I'm trying to buy tickets to a game in Denver with no luck. They're only selling them online, so my friend in Denver has the same chance as I do right now (I'm in Florida). What a brilliant f'n idea. Of course the site is hammered and I'm having no luck.
I'm a member of Red Sox nation by familty ties...two cousins in Boston, one of whom is a huge Sox fan. But I will still be rooting for the Rockies in the WS....
My entire office has been trying for the last hour. So far, all we've heard is that someone who knows someone in a different office has gotten 4 to a game.
Good luck to you guys. Let me know if you score any, I'm curious to find anyone having any luck with this crap. What a disservice to people actually living in Denver though. The least they could've done is sell a certain allotment in the city. I've never been in a situation like this. Anyone have an idea when they will sell out? I periodically refresh the main ticket page waiting to see a sold out sign. Will I have to do this all day?
Ive lived in Boston for over 2 years now...its fun when they win, so I guess I dont mind their success. Sometimes it is annoying though...sitting in a cab and having the driver talk about how great the Red Sox are. I think 2 out of every 3 cab rides have me wanting to jump out of the moving vehicle. In any case, if I have to root for an AL team, I may as well root for the city I currently live in.
Rumor has it that ~60,000 tickets went up for sale. Bigger rumor is that less than 1K have been sold because of the servers crashing. I can see Coors Field from my window, and there are a lot of people and news media outside there right now. I'm watching for pitchforks and torches.
It's been 2.5 hrs and no sold out sign. I wouldn't be surprised about the 1k number...or the pitchforks. Going online only, you know your servers are going to get hit like Katrina. This could go all day.
So says the Mets fan. Talk about cocky and arrogant - outside of the Yankees, I have never seen such a cocky and arrogant franchise than the Mets in the late '80s and early '90s. To see them choke this season and not even make the playoffs was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. I have been a Red Sox fan since '85 due to my love for Wade Boggs and ironically enough, Roger Clemens. It sucked very much to see both of those guys win WS rings with the hated Yankees. I never in my life cried as much over a sports team's loss than the night that damn Boone punk hit the homer off Wakefield in 2003. The Stockton Game 6 is right up there but at least the Rockets had won 2 NBA titles in a recent amount of time. I really thought that I would never see Boston win a WS in my lifetime. 2004 will be a year I'll never forget. I would love to see the Sox win it again this year, but I am okay with them losing to the Rockies as they are home to my favorite NFL team.
They just made an announcement that sales had been in the "hundreds". The majority of tickets are still available, but sales have been suspended. Not sure when they'll be going back up again. This was botched as badly as it could have been.
I can't imagine being a fan of a team but being OK if they lose once they get to the championship round!
Well I am not like some of these obnoxious Red Sox fans (at least I hope) that want to win it every year now. I am very thankful for the win in 2004 and that the Sox are in the playoffs every year or close to it. Winning again would be great but I just can't see it being any better than 2004. Plus the Rockies have never been, so you can't (at least in my mind) get upset at seeing a team that has never been winning for the first time. It is only when you have teams like the Yankees who have won a gazillion times that you will find me rooting like hell against them!
I just can't relate with that. I wanted 3 titles for the Rockets...it sucked to watch them get swept by the Sonics. After there were 3, I would have wanted 4. I just can't imagine being OK with watching my team lose once it got that far.
OMFG. Thanks for letting me know. I just googled that and you're right. I probably would've sat around doing this crap all day if I didn't know. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that whoever made this decision at the top has absolutely no idea about the internet, much less their IT infrastructure. I'm pretty sure it's some 60 yr old guy who uses AOL to check email.
Manny, I couldnt agree more. Mets fans act like theyre a dynasty or something. They GOT to a World Series in 2000 and acted like that was something to seriously brag about. Hell, The Astros have done that. You dont see them acting like baseball owes them a debt of gratitude. Thats why I laugh at all the Mets fans in the stands crying their eyes out after theyve choked the past two seasons. Usually I feel bad for fans of clubs that have seriously let their fans down. But no pity for the Mets fans here...
