I think Carmelo Anthony is likely to end up with Rockets

Again, I bring up Josh Smith. He was someone who made Carmelo Anthony look like James Harden from an offensive efficiency standpoint but do the Rockets get past the Clippers without him?

He had a fluke performance to save the rockets in an elimination game. That was an anomaly. Not something you count on at all.

The point was that he was an asset for the league minimum just as Carmelo Anthony would likely be.

I don’t know why you’re so against Melo. It’s not like we bringing him in at 20mill/yr to run the team. Bring him in to hit corner 3s and midrange turnaround jumpers from the block while CP3 and Harden are resting. You can never go wrong with adding more talent to the team. If it doesn’t work out he becomes a asset on cheap contract that we can flip at the deadline.

I also wouldn’t underestimate the impact CP3 could have on him. There was a noticeable difference in James Harden’s play on both ends of the court since CP3 arrived (effort/efficiency). CP holds players accountable with his leadership. Who’s to say he wouldn’t have that same impact on Melo?

Nothing more frustrating than watching that horrendous offense when CP3 is injured and Harden goes to the bench. It's basically Gordon and 4 scrubs trying to manufacture offense with a combination of wild heaves, turnovers, and out of control drives.

Our offense is painful AF to watch and Melo would bring buckets at a low cost. No brainer

LOL yeah, he really, really, really, really did. It's why the Pistons ended up paying him so much money to go away. He changed a bit when he was with the Rockets, but before that he was one of the most selfish chuckers in the game. Josh Smith was a guy who had very little offensive talent, but still demanded 14 or 15 shots per game to score 13 or 14 points per game.

He was still a chucker here but at the very least he accepted a very limited role. The #whome disease doesn't

This is the best argument I've read so far. I'd have to think Melo can't loaf on CP3's team.

My only objection to Melo, even at the minimum, is attitude.

He says he still thinks he can be a star.

If he comes here is he going to accept a limited role and potentially even being benched?

Yeah and that's a role he'd have never accepted before, that's my point. Carmelo Anthony will have been dumped by 2 teams in as many seasons and if he was ever going to be convinced to take a limited role, IMO it would be CP3 and Harden to get him to do it. This will be pretty much his last chance to rehab his image.

    Thanks

That is exactly how to explain 90% of all sports conversations. They are nothing but a bunch of speculation - if? - could? - should? - would?

If not, he's just a league minimum guy that can be cut without a problem.

He was a chucker but he didn’t have an attitude problem.

Bc I'm not a fan of selfish players. Didn't know I was supposed to be. The amount being paid is irrelevant.

Don't underestime cp3's impact on him? Aka A 35 year player who been in the league 15+ years needs a babysitter cool

Yeah he did. He got run out of Atlanta due to attitude problems even getting suspended for going after Mike Woodson on the sidelines, he got run out of Detroit for attitude problems. He bought in to the program here but it was the only time that happened. Hell he even had attitude problems in his 32 games with the Clippers so they dumped him too.

Quite a few Internet GMs still think they are smarter than Morey, MDA, and their gurus.

    Bobby's right.

Folks are vastly underrating the psychological/physical/talent overlay here. When Melo becomes a Rocket, he joins a real team with a proven plan and plenty of chemistry. CP3 and Beard running the show 24-7. He gets to run with his friends AFTER already being paid...AND....he gets a great chance to win a title. There will be plenty of offense and defense here. At this point in his career, we get the happy and productive/more efficient Melo. Again, it's a far cry from trying to put a square peg in a round hole, with no real plan.. like in OKC, where his talent has been hidden. Envision a product much closer to Olympic Melo....and a guy that is content to do whatever it takes...playing in the flow. He will improve this team drastically.

    Melo for the minimum.

Good thing you aren’t the GM. The amount paid is everything in this business. You see selfish. I see someone whose been on garbage teams that needed his shots because no one else would take them. It’s easy to have a bad attitude and become frustrated when things aren’t shaking out the way you would hope.

New York’s organization was trash and never put anyone around him except Jeremy Lin (lol) before Porzingis arrived. In OKC it was feast or famine depending on how many shots Russell and PG13 wanted. Put him in a defined role to get buckets (like Gerald Green’s role) and you maximize his impact to the team.
