He will give them money back, after last year and the long dragged out process that ended up with an outcome he wasn’t wanting.

He wants to get out and choose his team. Coin flip between us and LA.

One thing we can do is promise him a starting roll, LA is tough because they have Ingrim and Kuzma who are similar and younger, and already in LA.

For Houston it just so happens we have a starting spot open. Also we provide the best chance to win outside GS or Boston.

posted this before but this to add to @RudyTBag the fact that its a reoccurring theme all year and this is who he is. not just some bad matchup case. too slow now. no understanding of even any fundamental defensive concept or scheme whatsoever

its everyone else's fault though. not melo

Who cares? If he sucks then cut him and move on. Can't be any worse than MCW.

    Low risk, potentially high reward

Naw this won't help, if we're gonna compete with the Warriors we need to sign someone like Michael Carter-Williams.

After what GS added im all for this. We can use Anderson and Melo and whoever is giving more effort on defense gets the minutes.

Melo on offense would be a threat way more than Ariza or Anderson. I'm less worried about his defense.

if you're less worried about that then, you must be fine with not having a chance to win a championship

If we were signing him in free agency for a lot of money, I'd agree. But if we sign him for peanuts after he gets bought out by OKC, I don't have a problem with it because it's low risk. Remember Josh Smith? That was low risk too. Detroit paid him a bunch of money but he was bought out and the Rockets could sign him for peanuts. If it didn't work out, he could easily be cut. Same with Carmelo. If he's signed for peanuts, if it doesn't work, the Rockets can easily get rid of him.

    Low risk, potentially high reward.

I'm not worried about a defensive drop off. Ryno's defense was terrible and Melo's offensive is more than enough to make up for that to be a plus. Especially at the min or even MLE. That's not the concern for me. It's that unlike Ryno, Melo isn't self-aware and won't fit within the team system. You can't bench Melo or reduce his role like you can with Ryno. It's like Ryno and Melo are polar opposites mentally. One's confidence is completely shot and is gun shy, but team/locker room friendly. The other is delusional and expects to be treated like a star, but he'll also shoot himself out of a slump without hesitation too and you rely on him to always be aggressive offensively.

still don’t want him unless he’s going to be a 20 mpg guy off the bench

Chances he accepts that role? Slim

A week ago we had a remote chance of winning it all. So at this point, why not experiment with a hail mary.

The Chris Paul effect on Melo cannot be underestimated and the Westbrook effect on any other star player cannot be ignored.

PG had 1 of the best seasons of his career, but the narrative here is that Russ made him worse...

Melo got many open looks in OKC, he just bricked them
