Only if he is willing to be the 4 off the bench, basically a Ryan Anderson replacement.

Melo is a trash bin player - I don’t understand people wanting him to start. Off the bench? Sure. But he won’t see a minute against GS

I think the issue is we now have an opening at SF that he would expect coming here and honestly even though he is a shell of his younger days he’d still be serviceable. If he catches the ball he’d be expected to shoot it because that’s our system. I for one would love a starting SF for a inexpensive contract.

Since the question is always how do you beat Golden State, how do you hide Melo? We exposed him thoroughly in the regular season. He can't guard anyone.

I like the idea of having Melo just cuz I think it would be cool to have Melo.
But the reason I’m very hesitant about it is because I totally expect for D’antoni and Melo to butt heads and we can’t afford a distraction like that if we’re going for the chip.

Stretching him saves them $90 in luxury tax and they're a small market team. He's also a net negative on the court so it's not like he's worth that massive tax bill. He already pays like he gives zero effort and the fans want him gone. In what way does it make sense to run it back?

Melo also exposed Ryan Anderson when okc played us and Draymond Green when okc played GS.

A younger thinner Carmelo was fun to watch, attacking the basket at will or Old, Slow, Overweight, Unnecessary Muscle Low Post Turnover Bad Shooter No Thanks

i don't know what you guys are talking about. melo off the bench for 20-25 min a game is a deadly weapon to have in our arsenal; especially for the veterans minimum. don't let your hate cloud your judgement.

Agree - sign him for cheap and if he sucks then waive him and move on. Low risk, high reward.

It’s been reported that it’s highly likely that thunder waive Melo due to owing an insane luxury tax [I think an NBA record] if they cut him they can avoid it. Plus he didn’t fit well and his exiting interview wasent assuring

If he’s coming on the cheap, I say yes to Melo. His offensive game, in the right situation, is still too good to ignore IMO.

Yes, we saw the dumpster fire that was his season at OKC. Forget that. There’s only so much sitting on the wing or on the block watching Russ and PG pass it back and forth to each other that a proven scorer like Melo could take. They simply ignored him a lot of the time, and I reckon he just gave up.

Put him in a position where he’s taking uncontested jumpers with a green light - he’s worth it. Just don’t ask him to carry the offence and go full iso mode. In Houston, that’s clearly not going to happen.

Again, if it’s on the cheap, I’d be amazed if Melo didn’t produce here. Just my two cents.

I don't recall him exposing Green but I'll take your word for it. But I wouldn't bet on that over the course of a series

Right now the Thunder are looking at a tax bill of $130 million with only 11 players under contract.....and that tax bill is in addition to the salary they are paying out. Do you think a small market franchise is going to pay all of that for a 4 or 5 seed team? Some cap wise people ran the numbers and if they just used the stretch provision on him in order to cut him it would save them over 90 million dollars....that's gotta be tempting.
