Yeah, I guess he wasn't given a chance in Memphis either. Stop to think, why a player so superior to Alston couldn't earn playing time on either teams. If Francis was worth anything at that point in his career, he would have gotten a chance to prove himself somewhere in the NBA.
Well, he got to the second round unlike someone, and has run two very successful teams, the first of which ran into the meatgrinder called Jordan and the second of which lost when battling Shaq, Kobe, and the refs. Not bad. And OP is a complete moron.
Why stop at the Rockets? Why not add in John Weisbrod and McGrady Orlando Magic teammates? I'm sure there's some blame to be shared by the Raptors and Carter from Mac's days there as well.
I liked JVG....... if only the NBA do coach trades. i'd trade Rick to ESPN for JVG or trade Rick to the Bobcats for Brown
His multiple mistresses that forced him to resolve his child support battles in court. His children who have been taking away his sleep, and we all know that T-Mac:sleep::Samson:hair. His bulging shoulder vein, for disappearing on him in his greatest time of need. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cephalic_vein) The Toyota Center lighting. The newspapers. All the NBA execs that prevented him from being a max player surrounded by guys like Shaq and Tim Duncan.
And way to go, OP. When you said that Adelman forced Steve Francis into retirement I laughed like I hadn't in a while. Adelman and the Rockets cronies that run Memphis since they obviously were in on it when they didn't play him either after we paid them to take him off our hands.
I've been a T-mac apologist, but even I have grown tired and think it's beyond repair. Turn the page. I'm ready to move on. Just reading between the lines with Battier's quotes this season you get a sense that the team's grown weary of the antics. He decided to quit on us against Toronto on 1/2/09. Then he quit on management by going straight to the media and announcing his need for surgery. With a plan in place before the season started of his return date, he gives a 'date' of coming back against the T-wolves, right when insurance money was about to kick in. I saw CWebb on NBA TV a few weeks ago talk about his experience coming back from microfracture when he was with the Kings. Adelman was his coach and he pleaded to get more playing time because he thought his leg was fine. Adelman gave in sooner than he wanted. CWebb went off for 30 points. He called it fool's gold and said his leg 6 months down the line was never the same. He said it was the greatest regret in his career. He called out T-Mac and said not be like him. I figure Rick remembers. But he's accountable to the team he's built from that time on and he's done a helluva job, better than any or you could expect with what we have. Tracy may go off for another team and drop some nice numbers, but I don't think he'll ever play at the level he was playing in his best years, but maybe he won't have to if he gets on a decent team. This is a cat who speaks from both sides of his mouth. He said "it's on me one year," and then the next he says it's all his fault and can't get you the right beer. When you get paid like he gets paid, you better act like it's on your shoulders, period. Talk is cheap and Tracy's done a lot of it. It's nice to win during the regular season, but nobody ever talks about that great season we had in such and such years. People talk about championships. That's what he talked about when he came here and that's what we paid him for. As far as I'm concerned, while it's been entertaining at times, it's been a huge disappointment from what we thought could have happened. Take some time to make valid points on this board instead of name calling, which is what Jazzhole fans do.
You can name on one hand how many "bad relationships" he's had with players. Most of them are stars and have huge egos. They couldn't take the news that they weren't stars anymore. Let's begin... T-mac... Francis... um... maybe Bryan Cook, though I doubt it? Oh, and a Tim Hardaway. Right. Right. Now, name all the players he has great relationships with. Landry, Scola, Hayes, Yao, Ariza, Battier, Brooks, Lowery, Budinger, Mutumbo... I'm sure the list goes on to dozens of players from the Kings and Trail Blazers of past. Also how can you blame him for Yao's injury? How about his age? Or how about Yao's diet? Or what about the obvious factor: the Chinese boot-camp-style basketball team that kills his feet all summer. Adelman is the only thing keeping us competitive and would play Tracy if he got his ego in check and could actually contribute to the team's winning. He can't though. All he does is b**** and moan, so they cut him for two games as punishment. Then he b****ed and moaned some more about it and they're finally at an impasse where the two parties, the Rockets and Tracy McGrady, must part ways. Anyone so selfish he can't identify with his team mates, and he has to leave the team for two lousy games, doesn't belong on the Rockets. Hakeem would never do that, Mutumbo would never do that, and even Bryan Cook would never do that. Hell, he works his ass off in the warm-up and shows up knowing he'll probably be warming the bench. I'd hate to say it but Bryan Cook's positive attitude is worth 10 times more than a selfish Tracy McGrady at 100 percent.
Don't forget that Adelman has a long history of doing the same type of thing on other teams, it didn't start with the Rockets.- Tim Hardaway for one!
You know I've been around long enough to see many coaches come and go. I have to say Rick is on his way to making this his team just as JVG did he's running off some players that were here before him. Rick knows that if his team fails to meet expectations he'll be the next coach looking for a job. Just ask JVG after his team minus Francis, Cato, and Mobley didn't meet the owners or fans expectations.
And meanwhile, Adelman is regularly mentioned as a contender for Coach of the Year. WTF are you guys thinking?
Rick Adelmen is the best coach in the NBA...TMAC doesnt fit so uh NAAAAAAAAAA BROSKY its time that we build around the young and get rid of the old
It feels like the TMac fans around here outnumber the sensible ones. Anyway, I love reading these TMac love threads and the fans that gather inside of them.
