You're right, it's a failure unless we win the championship. So please, answer my question from before - if we tank, who is the player that we will draft that will turn this franchise around?! That is the question that you and the others like you can't answer and that's why your argument makes no sense.
http://www.nbadraft.net/2010mock_draft I'll take mostly any of those players in the top 10. All allow a possible upgrade and give us flexibility on the roster. Or having a top 10 lottery pick avaliable to trade is ALWAYS nice. There answered.
The 7th pick lands us -http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft/draft/tracker/player?playerId=19156&draftyear=2010 - Yes, Cole Aldrich. A 21 yr. old junior from Kansas who is projected as the top C this season, who this evening went 12pts-17rebs-7blks vs. Missouri. Too perfect? I'd gladly take the 7th pick.
I like what Cole brings to the table at 6'11 with a whopping 7'6 wingspan and his also pretty agile for a seven footer .... Some other guy's that might drop past Cole that have similar measurements and high potential IMO is Demarcus Cousins (6'11 / 7'6 wingspan) and Larry Sanders (6'10/ 7'7 wingspan) both provide size and athleticism to the 4/5 spots, theres a few more Interesting prospect that could be had Mid to late first early second that could really help this rockets team in terms of size and length..... well lets just say it's a strong draft for big men with SIZE, which is exactly what this team needs....(besides a legit two G.) --RB
wow a link to the top 10...you're right how stupid am I. The question was which player can we get that will turn the franchise around and you guys choose a 7'6 center - really, you can't think of one reason why that might not be the franchise changer that you think? I am very glad that Morey doesn't take any of his cues from you guys. There is only one potentially game changing player in the draft, and we're not drafting John Wall.
He's not 7'6... How can you say the only franchise changer is John Wall. A franchise change is someone who upgrades the team and helps us with the ultimate goal of wining a ring. Something those players can do.
So in your opinion Hakeem and Budinger were both franchise changers? I mean, both improved our team, right? Or Hakeem and Cassell, both made us better and helped us to our ultimate goal - therefore, by your definition they are both franchise changers. While I loved Sam Cassell I'd never tank to get him. If you would, more power to you, but that's a ridiculous stance.
very insightful comeback - the picture really sold it. My plan is to let the team develop like any other team does. Look at the history of teams that have tanked in order to improve. You can point to the Cavs and the Spurs as success stories, but those are the exceptions not the rule. On some level even you must realize that. But by all means, continue to ignore the fact that I called you out on the fact that after the Rockets tanked it took 10 years to win a ring.
First off Budinger was a 2nd round pick who still has alot to prove, and could have a huge future in Houston so for all we know he could be a major factor in years to come. If we were to go in the lottery we would be getting a very high first round pick. Which is very different than getting Budinger. With most first round picks you are getting a player who has the potential to be a star or hall of fame player such as Hakeem was.
Yep and it was all due to tanking right? I mean, after it was clear we weren't going to win after 84, we should've tanked again, and again, and again, and again... It had nothing to do with players developing as a team, learning about playing in the playoffs, gaining confidence, etc.
I'll tell you what...do us all a favor and don't come back until you deem us contenders. You're nothing more than a bandwagon fan. Fans, real fans, support their teams in good years and bad ones - they don't pray for loses for the potential for a better season down the road.
I never disputed my definition.... If you are a true fan then you should understand that getting into the lottery isn't as horrible as it seems. The lottery is there for a reason, just because you make it doesn't mean your franchise has gone to hell. It is there to help replenish your team besides using the free agent market. No team should strive to get into it, but if you do then congrats on a possible future star.
