What I said was that the Rockets ARE NOT going to play any of those silly games. Adelman, Morey, and all the players will be going all out to win every game. There is really no need to even talk about tanking, it's not going to happen.

I don't know what to make of this team. Going young is the direction and what good does it do to win?

Winning makes people happy now and sad later.
Losing makes people mad, but makes people happy in the future.

Yea, how good do you think he can become? I still see room and area for improvement. If he bust his A** off during the offseason he might come back more improved.

Yeah I see HEAPS of room for growth and development from Trevor...he just needs more experience being a go-to guy and try out his offensive arsenal on the court without being under the constant shadow of a superstar. Ariza truly can become Iguodala-lite in my opinion. I just want him to stop shooting those 3's!!!!!! He can do that in practise all he wants but if hes gonna go down I wanna see him driving and slashing and going down. Do you think he can improve from in-game experience or off-season workouts more?

There's no point in sacrificing player development to win games this season anyways.

Tanking is what bad teams do because they have no hopes of making the playoffs. Playoff contenders don't tank - period. It only makes sense to tank (although I'd never agree with it), if you have a legitimate chance of getting a top 5 lottery pick. No matter how badly the Rockets play the rest of the year they won't be in the same realm as the Nets, Timberwolves, Warriors, Pacers, or Wizards - it's just not going to happen.

So those of you who want to tank the rest of the season, tell us who other than John Wall (because there is a 0% chance of us getting him) are we going to get? At best, the Rockets would be able to get a mid-level lottery pick. Who will be available at that spot that will make a losing year bearable? If you can't answer that question, your argument doesn't hold any water (not that I think it will even if you CAN name someone, but even from your rationalization it won't hold any water). While we're at it, point to one team who was a contender for the playoffs, who decided to tank instead.

right, because this happened because we kept tanking right? It had nothing to do with the hard fought playoff experience we garnered for years before the championship. The closest thing we did to "tank" before the Championship was going 42-40 in 91-92 and then drafting Horry.

    Hard fought playoff experiences ?

I've seen enough first round exits and wasted years in the past decade.

I root for the Rockets to win every single game. That said, lately when they've been losing I'm not bothered by it. I just think "Eh. The lottery would be nice".

exactly. we are losing. might as well lose big. you either aim for the ring or you don't aim at all. man, I'm sick of all those 1st round exits every single year with no brighter future in sight.

its funny how now I find myself happier whenever the Rockets lose the game than they win it.

Ok, well I didn't realize what a LONG-TERM plan you had. You're right we should tank now and then 10 YEARS from now we can win a championship. Hakeem was drafted in 84 (which per you earlier post is a little before you became a Rockets fan) and we won our first championship in 94. You're right, this really makes your argument stick - I mean, hey let's tank now (when we have a zero chance of getting the number 1 overall pick - which, since you weren't a fan and all back then you might not know this, but that's what Hakeem was) and then 10 years from now maybe it'll pay off. Good plan!

first off, I was talking in reference to the years before the championship - which were not all first round exits. Second, even if I was talking about the modern day Rockets, I guess you are forgetting last year where we took the eventual champions 7 games in the second round...maybe you just weren't watching last year.

    Oh My Word.
THE ROCKETS MADE THE SECOND ROUND WHERE WAS I !?

What organization prides themselves on making the second round ?

No team should say "well at least we made the second round"
