I dont believe the playoffs are useless. Just having that experience, and the atmosphere just strives players to do better the next year instead of watch a team that i know we are better than or just as good as (OK City, Pheonix, Utah, Memphis, NO) have the national spotlight and get that playoff experience.

Screw that I want my rockets in the playoffs. I rather watch the rockets for an extra week that watch one of those teams I listed. Im a fanatic of the Houston Rockets and winning is the only way that makes me happy. :p

Its clear which way we want to go from the viewpoint of the rockets organisation---to win and aim for the playoffs.......however.......THAT IS THE WORST DECISION THEY CAN EVER MAKE AT THIS POINT.

Simply the fact that THEY CANNOT WIN ANY GAMES EVEN IF THEY WANTED TO!!!!! SO WHY NOT TANK!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY TRYING TO GO UP BUT THEY GOTTA GO DOWN

Oh I think our team has more than enough experience in the First Round.

Rockets had a 34-48 record in '08 when they had the #8 pick.
Rockets have a 24-19 record now. So to get a #7-8 pick -
Only 10 more wins the rest of the way? (rounding to 40 games) 10-30 to season's end? Or single digit wins, 9-31 and worse?

This is more wishful than realistic. I dont see them Nets and Timberwolve'ing it the rest of the way. Rockets have already overachieved. The worst collapse scenario I see is getting 13-14 wins with players going down with injury, in #14-16 pick range.

1st off we would have to tank pretty damn bad in order to even sniff a top ten pick and I'm not sure that there is that much of a better chance of getting a difference maker at 10 than there is at 14. I certainly don't think there is a big enough difference to risk driving your fan base away from the arena by tanking.

I am completely unfamiliar with any drinking and smoking in the Mav's locker room during the three J's era. I actually worked for the Mav's during that time and was in the building the day Don Carter was negotiating with David McDavid (one of the minority owners during the Perot ownership days). The only thing I know about that era was that Jim Jackson was looking like an all star until he got a high ankle sprain, Mashburn had chronic tendinitis in his knees that caused him to miss lots of games. The most famus issue however involved JJ and Kidd who were like best friends during Kidds rookie year but had a falling out over Toni Braxton.

We ll if you cant read correctly...which now im starting to doubt due to your spelling, I would rather watch the rockets for an extra week and any of those other teams we are in the middle with. I do think we have a chance to knock out anyone from the first round besides the Lakers. But thats just me.

By the time he's ready to lead a team to the Finals, Kobe will be retired.

Tank or not, the rockets should develop young players. Give CBud, Dorsey and Taylor more playtime. Trade Battier or Ariza for expiring contract + 1st round pick. By this way, the rockets will have enough cap space to sign a star palyer this offseason. Moreover, the rocket will have two 1st picks. I have confidence in Morey's drafting ability.

    and we get:

    john wall
    andre iguodala
    trevor ariza
    luis scola
    yao ming

    aaron brooks
    kyle lowry
    JR smith
    Jermaine Oneal
    Carl Landry
    chuck hayes

thats gonna kick anyones ass anyday

lets just ignore lebron so we can beat the bobcats...yay!!! I get to draft tj ford!!!!! I wanna win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In your post you simply said if we add John Wall we will be able to contend with the Lakeshow.

Your entire post is a theory and full of "ifs" thus making it irrelevant

Why root against the success of a team that has a chance at the playoffs?

Even if they only sneak in at the 7 or 8 spot, they will still be getting invaluable playoff experience against elite competition.

In the grand scheme of winning a championship down the road, that experience could mean more than adding a lottery pick, especially considering that about half of them never really pan out.

i'll be damned if 2 of those scenarios actually come true..

here's are other scenarios, if we sign lebron and trade yao ming for dwight howard, and trade landry for chris bosh that will be a kickass team
