It is a shame that i have the feeling that some people here actually will embrace the Rockets failing to make the playoffs in order to "prove" a player´s value. Ridiculous!!
The Rockets have been playing so well and I believe that they can make the playoffs too, especially now that Denver and GS have been fading a little bit. If it's a competition among the Rockets, the Nuggets, and the Warriors for two playoffs spots, I like our chances even without Yao. However, there is a 95% chance that the Rockets will not advance beyond the 1st round again. And that's all that matters. I think that it may serve the team better in the long run if we do not make the playoffs this year.
I think Scola, Landry and Brooks will all welcome playoffs experience no matter if it is one game or fourteen.
Knowing the Rockets, this is probably the year they get past the first round. Why not? They never get past the first round when we think they will with all our players. lol
I'm down. While being top 3 seems unrealistic now, we're still in as good position as possible to considering the circumstances.
I wonder what's better, no Yao or no T-Mac? It looks like there will be alot more "T-Mac to the rack" (basketball rack) from now on. T-Mac to lead the way!
You know, after an initial period of ineffable depression... I realize that I still have some faith in this team. Worse teams than what we have have done more than what we expect.
And some of us were here well before Yao and rooting for the Rockets probably decades before you shared your first comic book night with Summer. Regardless I obviously don't feel like cyber-arguing Yao's worth or our playoff chances on a day like today. I hope I'm wrong and you can come back in a few months and call me out
Someone other than T-mac needs to command a double team. That is what makes the whole offense go right now. yikes.....
Yao's out is really not that bad. People like to overreact on bad news. But the fact is Rox has proven they can do just fine without Yao. This year's Rox is more balanced than Yao-Tmac era has even been. I have no doubt they will still make the playoffs. As far as the concerns for contending the Championship, even a healthy Yao and T-Mac combo hasn't proven they can pass the first round. So it won't make a big difference because Rox is not a serious contender anyway. A more serious question will be when to break up the Yao and T-Mac duo and rebuild. Yao presents a bigger headache because he obviously has huge marketing advantage but at the same time he managed to miss 1/3 of the season each year for last 3 years and it is becoming a trend. He probably already peaked because of the mileage he has and it only gets worse in the future. He plays too much basketball and his body can't put up the load any more.
Hollinger believes also. So I believe. All of a sudden we matchup with Golden State really well! Hahahaha... Let's wait and see. The streak ain't over yet, there's still some basketball to be played.
