Way better than Morris. Green can space the floor with a good three pointer from nearly every spot, he is a great passer, and he is versatile enough to play either forward spot in the Rox system. That being said, he is wildly inconsistent, only average as a defender, and probably can't be had for Asik anyway.
Because their star player is Jeff Green? That said, I can't really see why the Celtics would want Asik. Asik is the kind of player you want when you're a tough interior defender away from competing. The Celtics are trying to blow it up. And while Asik isn't old by any stretch of the imagination, he isn't quite young enough to be the kind of player you bring in directly after blowing it all up, and, he's so good defensively he could actually help them win some games. Which, again, isn't what you're going for after you blow it all up.
Rondo is Boston's star player, not Jeff green. And they'd trade green to get assets for a guy they may not want to re-sign to a huge deal.
Agree completely. The best bet seems to be for Morey to wait until a contender loses a big and needs a replacement to remain in the hunt. If Chandler were out for longer, I could see the Knicks giving up Shumpert, but Asik is more valuable than that, so you would need a third team to fleece. Shumpert, though, would give you a great perimeter defender who could actually play some one alongside Harden and some two alongside Lin.
Morey has until the 2015 trade deadline to deal Asik IMO. He's going to command more in free agency than we can afford. But until then, I think Morey is holding out for a 3rd star in any trade for him. I think Asik is here for the remainder of the season. If we are really struggling come the trade deadline, I could see a deal for Millsap who is on a very favorable/trade-able contract. Also a very efficient player that doesn't need the ball in his hands.
asik is not a top 5 center and the celtics will never do that trade. Its not even close in terms of value. A good spot shooter like redick would be nic, but the clippers dosent need asik. Also we could use an upgreade at the pg and pf position. Guys like taj gibson or paul millsap seem like a great fit, but im not sure we can get either ( bulls dont need asik and millsap just signed a contract). Ryan anderson and ersan illiasova could also be good for this team.
it's not the twin towers. It's having a non point guard who has been assigned to pg and a point guard who doesn't run an offense starting in the same line up. If they want that to work, they should let dwight be the center of attention and have him set offensive opportunities for his teammates. as is stands, parsons isn't getting open looks, howard isn't getting the ball let alone asik. that leave's a harden admirer in beverely to watch harden do his thing. ugly offense unless bev is westbrook.
