"Like Betamax, they don't make them like HIM anymore!" This video is chalk full of goodness. First that was a TREMENDOUS goal, spoken from a non-soccer (football) person. Then the kid at 1:20...nice. We thought US sports announcers ride athletes jocks too much. Man its not even CLOSE to soccer announcers. Can you imagine Andre Johnson scoring on an outstanding touchdown, then receiving a 15 minute standing ovation while he changes shirts on the sideline soaking it all in...and the announcers orgasm'ing over his "virtuoso goal" that'll send the people home tonight and they'll "dream of heavenly things"?
I have seen the Latin soccer players a few times at the Galleria. They really are nice guys. I have never seen anyone ever turn down a photo op or autograph for their fans. They roll around with no security. Just themselves in track pants and tees. No bling, to entourage or anything. I mean they literally get "politely stalked" the entire time they are there. Never bothered while in the stores, only while they are going from store to store.
Ya, actually I had just arrived at ISNA, but I walked into the wrong hotel, I saw a bunch of flags and figured I was in the wrong place. turned around and he was pulling in... with a bunch of people getting ready for autographs. ISNA, was OK so far... well see tomorrow.
My sis saw him at galleria today. She waved at him. He waved back. She felt like a dork. She is. She's not legal. Don't ask.
too be fair, this goal was not simply "an outstanding" goal... Many have described it as one of the greatest goals of all-time... A goal that one can only dream of...
well, 2 things. 1) he's a soccer player. 2) this is houston... i doubt many people would recognize hakeem or nolan.
I don't know if anybody else went to Free Kick Masters tonight, but here are my two cents: Total waste of time. Seriously, I've never been to an event that was so poorly run. They were an hour late, by my count, to get the event rolling and the whole concept made no sense. The scoring, the arbitrary shoot outs, etc. made for a ridiculous evening. Ronaldinho had a grand total of zero shots on goal during his few minutes in the limelight. Add to that that Messi was poor and Fernando Torres did not show and you have a pretty boring evening. I understand that it was supposed to be a fun, slam-dunk contest-like event, but it was painful at times. The best moments of the entire evening were the six people that ran onto the field with the intention of getting Borgetti's autograph on a Honduran flag, hugging Ronaldinho, and getting near Messi. A man on the opposite escalator from me put it very succinctly while exiting: "They took a good idea and made it a baffling ordeal." I was glad I got the free vouchers from Fiesta on this one.
I attended this event (freekickmasters) and it was one of the worst run events i have ever been to. It took over 3.5 hrs, ronaldinho and messi didn't shoot til the last 15 mins and and both were horrendous. lots of standing around, microphones not working, no instant replays, a total waste of time. thank God i had free tickets!!! The best part of the event were the beautiful ladies and the idiots jumping into the field to touch ronaldinho, messi and borgetti.
