My friends usually break their streak when they're drunk or high. Afterwards, they make rules and claim it doesn't really count. It's possible to relapse and still succeed as long as you don't beat yourself up over it.
A year ago, I quit caffeine. I was in pain (severe withdrawal headache) non-stop for three days, and then on-off-again headaches for two weeks. Quitting smoking must be much harder, so I salute your effort. Every time I had my headaches, I would get pissed at the soda companies, like Coca Cola. Their company was making me go through pain as a punishment for refusing to consume their products, which I had become physically addicted to. That ain't cool. I wasn't going to let them beat me, and I wasn't going to give them any of my money any more. bastards.
last night was rough, the craving kicked into high geer around 10pm - I ended up eating a about 3 popcicles trying to give my oral fixation something to fixate on! MR MEOWGI - that stratagy seems to help me as well so far - really helps to keep my mind off of it One day, 2 hours, 13 minutes and 15 seconds. 19 cigarettes not smoked, saving $2.95. Life saved: 1 hour, 35 minutes. btw, that time, cigs not smoked, money saved, life saved paste is from a lil program called SilkQuit - it is a "quit-meter", available at http://www.silkquit.org
Count me among the quitters. I wasn't a smoker for the longest time, but I was a fairly heavy smoker for about five years. I'll tell you--you make it through the first week you start to see daylight. The cravings come a little slower and last a little less time, and you start to feel better, cleaner, more alive. Good luck man--one of the best decisions you can ever make.
Good Luck! My mom was a heavy smoker and though she was remarkably healthy for most of her life, the smoking definitely shortened it. Also, it really made me sad to see her captive to an addiction, especially later in her life. You are doing your kids a real favor.
I smoked for 12 years. Only tried to quit once. Used the patch. It work. Chewed gum, toothpicks, stir straws. Still do. It was easier than I expected, but still sucked. (I pictured all the kicking heroin scenes from movies.) I gained 20 lbs. It's been 5 years. At least once a month I'd kill a guy for a cigarette...but I don't.
Try losing weight! There is nothing more agonizing than that Anyways, I have been on the diet for 3 weeks now, and seeing good results, and I won't quit anytime soon! My goal is to get to about 230 and stop there, that's my ideal weight pretty much (I used to weightlift a lot, and so I have a good body under all this excess fat). I am 280 now, so pray for me guys, I am going in for the kill!
There are Nicotine Anonymous groups out there, and I've seen quitters STAY quitters through groups like these and also with the help of a sponsor. You might want to give that a try if you feel the cravings are too much. Addiction is a b****.
So are quitters. (New McGrufff Song) Quitters are losers And losers are quitters So Drink and Smoke! Don't Do Crack! That'd help a lot more than the current one does...
