I don't think Cato's salary is all that out of whack for a center. Maybe I'm wrong, but last year he made $5.3 million didn't he? There are several players far worse in terms of bang-for-the-buck. I think what people hate Cato for is he showed so damn much promise even in pre-season games, then gets a fat contract and produces absolutely nothing.

I guess it could be worse, we could be stuck with Zydrunas Ilgauskas or Anfernee Hardaway who each made about $10 million last year being hurt. Hell, Jayson Williams made over $13 million last year, but at least he produced when he was around.

I'm guessing I'm more pissed that we're paying Matt Maloney until 2005! Sunuvabiscuit.

What you may want to do is compare all the average-to-sucky centers, then compare Cato's stats and games played to those average-to-sucky centers, then compare his salary to those average-to-sucky centers. Let me know what you find out.

His game has collapsed in upon itself under the weight of his contract and his lethargic ass causing a black hole swallowing up (cap)space and destroying it?

We rip his ass all season long, it will be nice if he can proved that he's still worth to play with the Rockets. [IMG]

Question for you bingo - does he get injured diving for the loose ball flying into the stands/reporters/out of bounds? [IMG]

How 'bout this?? Let's stop bashing Cato. It's so easy and it's not anything new. So, let's stop killing the guy and just hope we can get 10/9/2.5 out of him.

Hopefully, we'll all be able to say, 'Man, that Cato's playing well!'

Hopefully...but the Cato bashing is getting old. I'll admit, I've done it...but no more. I'm really going to hope he does his best and that things work out for all of us.

So, Doc, I guess that means you haven't heard of any possible Cato trades in the works? ... or is this BBS making it hard to trade him, because we are knocking his value.

... btw, I agree with you, regardless.

LOL! I'm laughing so hard I'm gonna faint. The first thing I thought of when I read Doc Rocket's post was "Aw hell, they can't get rid of him!" [IMG]

... gonna be a while? Better grab a Snickers.

I found that surprising. But as you have probably already seen, that's not the case for blocks and rebounds which are dominated by centers. Even Kevin Willis and Keon Clark are Top 50's.

The key IMHO is this - CATO must play 30 to 35 minutes per game to get to the 12/9/1.5 level. If he can't stay on the floor, he can't get decent numbers.

Because the original poster said for 75 games. I'd be thrilled with that from the Catomic Bomb!

Cato's job is really simple, box out, rebound (offensively and defensively), dunk the basketball, and hustle. If that is my only job for $6 million, I would be estatic. It's when Cato starts shooting jump shots and not hustling is when he's in trouble. However, CD and Rudy has nobody to blame but themselves for signing Cato to a large salary for one good game against Shaq

I really hope Cato reads this board regularly because I think this thread may actuallyhave more posts in favor, or at least in support, of Cato's breakthrough season next year. He should understand that he has the opportunity to be the second best center in the NBA if he applied himself. Hopefully he'll get a little encouragment from all the Cluthcity BBS posters and work his ass off to be the best he can be
I STILL BELIEVE IN KELVIN CATO, ohand by the way does anyone know WHY Cato isn't playing in the LA Summer Leagues, he needs it BAD!!!

Mr. President. No man thinks more highly than I of three legged cows. They deserve to live. On my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of reason. Cows with three legs are good. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth : three-legged cows are better. They are better because the meat on them is better. The steaks are more tender. Three-legged cows tend not to wander as much. These cows could be the symbol of our country. The world would look upon us with great respect. They will want our cows and pay good money for them. The cows could symbolize freedom and hard work and three legs are better than four. They are meant for us; they can be meant for no other.

Cato is the biggest slacker in Rockets history.Expecting him to do anything good is unbelievable. The guy hasn't even come out to play in the SUMMER LEAGUE games, and some of you think that he is going to have a breakout NBA season.
