It was kind of long, basically went into depth about how its stupid to be charged a ETF when i was switching because they diddnt want to pay for root sports and at the time the turner network channels. I also said at the end i would be blasting them all over twitter, facebook, and reddit. The fee they wanted was $20 for every month left on my contract. I had 20 months left because i had just re up my contract so i could get the hopper, and thought they would get root with direct tv, boy was i wrong.

Is there a reputable company out there that provides cable/internet anymore?

    I hear bad things about

    Charter
    Comcast
    Dish
    Direct TV
    Time Warner
    Uverse
    Verizon
    and on....

It's so WEIRD there is so much poor customer service in an industry that is in so much peril from online streaming. I mean...are they really that stupid or are they throwing in the towel and trying to squeeze every dollar while they can?

I was with Directv for a long time. I don't have any complaints about their customer service at all. They were always very helpful. I finally cancelled because it was just too much money every single month.

I now have a pretty basic package with Time Warner Cable that I was able to bundle with the internet and get a really cheap deal along with my xbmc/Kodi.

If I had unlimited funds I would go back to Directv, but the way it is now, I save about $100 a month, and that includes the $99 ballstreams subscription.

Comcast works fine for me. Uverse is pretty reliable but the picture quality is that of 720p Youtube Video

I've often wondered this too. I think a lot of the negativity comes from the things that are mentioned in this thread. A lot of the complaints seem to be pretty universal no matter who your provider is.

For starters, they always seems to have a "don't ask me any questions and I won't tell you any lies" philosophy. You have to work so hard to get information of them and you seem to find out about everything by surprise.

That NFL Sunday Ticket package you got for free for signing up last year? That's going to auto-renew. Surprise!

This month, we're going to add a crappy niche movie channels package called "HD Extra Pack" to your account. It's free for three months, but then will be 4.99/months extra after that. And that voicemail we left you is all the consent we need to get away with it.

Then there's the issue (detailed extensively in this thread) that you can call up your provider five times in a row back-to-back, talk to five different people, and get five completely different answers to the same question. When it comes to this issue, I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that most of these companies are so incredibly focused on bending over backward to maintain high customer retention levels that something different has been promised to each and every long-term customer to get them to stay. Customer A has two or three specific discounts, and he was upgraded to a newer receiver, and to keep him happy, we also told him that we'd leave the free preview of the movie channels on for an extra two weeks. Meanwhile, Customer B has an old receiver that the company doesn't want back, shares a community satellite dish at an apartment complex, and we gave her a free package upgrade for six months because the salesman in Sam's Club panicked when she said she was considering switching services. I can imagine it would be difficult for an employee to get the hang of things if there was very little congruency in the situations between any two given customer accounts. Perhaps I'm just making excuses for them, though.

I have DirecTV and I'm quite happy with the customer service I've gotten and with the television service itself. But my one gripe that I know will come to a head one day when the price gets to a certain point is that sometimes I feel like you need to be a mathematician to figure out their pricing. Granted, some of that is because I had three or four different discounts right out of the gate when I signed up and those are expiring at different intervals, but I feel like I've never paid the same price for cable for more than two or three months in a row before it changes.
