IMO the biggest difference is the team not asking Yao to beat his man one on one in the post. Moving him around the floor increased his effectiveness x10.

I think his stamina is managed well by JVG's rotation. IF we have other guys hitting shots from all over the place there's more a chance that we don't have to depend on TMac or Yao try to carry the team all the time.

We spread the scoring responsibility a lot of the time. Yao is fresher and more able to contribute over 4 quarters....rather than being tired because we are forcing the ball into him and later picking up fouls and sitting on the bench.

He has a good pace right now. Not too much, not too little.

Remember that block on Brendan Haywood? That would have been a foul if Yao had been fatigued.

    you ming's pretty good.

i mean when the team struggles, fans will place blame. yao deserved the blame since he was the only player left from last year. now rockets are play well... yao gets praise.

i mean... in a sense it's ridiculous. but in another sense it's the nature of the beast.

yeah I think he's doing a great job..less turnovers. He's getting more calls imo. He is having fun..the whole team is playign well and it's great to watch..and they are probably having fun and enjoying this success. But our hardest schedule ist still ahead..we've really become a good team though. I love the Rockets. Yao is actually playing better defense and offensively..he's beginning to knock down shots once again. Maybe his elbow really was screwed up..or the flu messed him up..plus tons of other factors..I like how he keeps the ball high like lots of people are noticing now. His passing is better too. It doesn't seem like as truggle. Everything is within the offense..it flows and it's really nice. :D

Good job to all the coaches and players

Exactly. Speaking of this I owe JVG an apology too. I thought he was too stubborn to adjust because of the some things he said. Actually he has adjusted the offense to less initiate plays by dumping it into Yao. He has acknowledged such adjustment.

Maybe for the little pointers, but definitely not for the general approach. I think Yao has suffered a lot from too much inappropriate advice too often. He's looking a lot more fluid now, maybe because he's finally being allowed to play his own game. Before you could see it in his awkwardness that he was trying to play in a way that was not natural for him.

JVG brought in Ewing to teach Yao how to play like Ewing. That has been a disaster.

Also, if Yao could really be Yao, he'd also hit 3s at a pretty high %, like Divac.

the only thing Yao improved is the consistency. he is a consistent 20/9 guy now. the production is good but not great. but i think that's good enough for us as he's playing second fiddle to TMac

Though being labeled as YOF once in a picture, I never bashed Sura in public. That being said, I do love him more and more.

I think that forcing Yao played more inside actually will help him in long run. Its' his weakest aprt, he needs to improve on it .

Yao's strengths have always been his outside shot. But that's not what makes a complete player. You have to have a strong inside and outside game. Just as a complete player must have a strong offense and defense. Yao may not play like Ewing or Hakeem inside. But he's gained much needed experience in the post. Experience that will pay off later on in his career.

    Exactly.

Wasn't Sura supposed to apologize to Yao?

    ;)

Unfortunately I gotta agree with Dragon. We've seen Yao really peak the last two seasons in February and March only to hit a wall in April. I hope we don't see a repeat this year. In the meantime I'm lovin it like the rest of y'all :D

Only if they are willing to throw in a 2nd round pick to sweeten the deal.

Yao might learn more from Deke instead of Pat Ewing.
