Public enemy no. 1 will always be Karl Malone.

Francis is just a kid with bad agents/managers. He is seriously damaged goods now. Not only will he never make an Olympic team, he won't make another All Star team, either.

i don't see how the Magic are so much at fault here.

they are, i think, rightly concerned that their potential key player -- who they'll be committing to for a 6 year max deal -- doesn't want to play there. And they find this out before they close the deal.

So they mull it over. THey look at other deals. Seems reasonable to me. Can't expect them just to take on Steve's contract and then deal with that after. Sure Steve's under contract -- and has 'no choice' but --- still...i'd be concerned. Why take on a six year max deal if it looks like you might be forced to trade it until you've got that second bit lined up?

I think the deal will go through. McGrady calls the shots. He's not much use to Orlando next yr given he's said he's won't re-sign. So he's worth the most to Houston. And the offer will be too much to pass up. But it is a glitch.

And he's still valuable to other teams. They get a year. And the right to try to sign him for more than anyone else.

Just ignore Steve and do the deal?

Didn't work so well for Vancouver.

Steve will probably be stuck in Houston for the rest of his career now because he is so damaged in everybodies eyes.

Ive always disliked steves game, but always respected him because he always tries his hardest and is genuinely a good person, but if this trade does not happen I will absolutel disdain for him. Not because we dont get Tmac, but because this franchise will be royally screwed for a while. I dont know how you can support this guy when all his public comments are about to ruin a trade for one of the greatest scorers of this generation. Have any of you SF supporters actually thought about what would happen if this trade doesnt go down. There is no way in hell steve is going to put on a Rockets uniform ever again. Even if he does I doubt many fans in houston would ever want him back after this. We would be forced to trade him for lesser value and I doubt after this we would be able to get more then good role players for him or other disgruntled stars.

Has he indicated that he would not honor his contract?

I felt this way too but Francis just took his place regardless if this trade goes down or not.

the fact that francis is potentiallly altering rockets history is enough. Mcgrady could potentially be the best or second best player in Rockets history!

It's worth noting that nearly everyone who's voiced the opinion that Francis is worse than Malone registered in 2002 or later. I guess it takes a long-term fan to muster the proper amount of hatred for the Mailman and all things Jazz.

Who was the player who chose the 1 ball in the draft a few years ago? Or the player who played with a migrane? I personally can't hate Francis, he loves Houston, that's why he is fighting this trade so much.

Man, how I hate a guy who so badly wants to play for my team that he cries out that he loves the town, loves the team, loves the fans and doesn't want to leave. Yeah, I hate him for it.

I like Francis. He loved being a Rocket. I wish he could have been a better leader, but now I'd like to see if McGrady can do better. It's important to give JVG the chance to build his own team, and Francis just isn't his man. I'm very annoyed that Francis might screw this up, but to be fair, it was his agent who blabbed to the press about not wanting to play, not Steve.

And come on. Karl Malone?! Not even the same UNIVERSE of hate. Malone needs to have his elbows sawn off.

He DOES NOT have a "no-trade clause" in his contract, so he goes where we say he goes. So by refusing to play for Orlando, yes, he is not honoring his contract obligations.

Steve was playing against an old, broken down Gary Payton. Yao was playing against the best center in the league, and he played him basically even. Cuttino played Kobe about as tough as the Pistons did. Jim Jackson and Kelvin Cato failed to show up, but Cat and Yao had at least as much to do with the Rockets showing on the playoffs as Steve did.
