I just bought an IPOD Classic 120GB, and I want to watch movies on it, but my ITunes won't accept movies, even MP4s. What's wrong? I have the 8 ITunes. Also, does anyone know a good software for converting movie files to mp4s and mv4

i think it only works for tv/movies/videos you download using Itunes. I just got my first IPod as well so I could be totally off...

try MPEG Streamclip for ripping movies etc...

    Can the classic play videos?

I know my sisters 80gb video Ipod thing plays all movies with no problem. She has to convert them first, but they look great on the little thing.

What type of software does she use to convert it?

How do you "add" movies or what are your steps? Little help, here?

Just drag and drop an MP4 onto the iTunes library in the "Movies" section and it will add it for you. Start with a small file. It should be in your "movies" or "videos" list. In your preferences for the program, you can tell iTunes to leave the video where it is or make a copy onto the iTunes Music folder for later use.

EDIT: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_classic_Features_Guide.pdf#34 (page 34) - iPod Classic manual straight from the source.

well then I am just as confused as the OP.

I just got the 8GB nano, 4th generation.

i have tried adding short films i downloaded from Itunes, and also movies I have converted and added to my Itunes, yet nothing is transferring from my Ipod playlist onto my Ipod itself.

for example, a Radiohead podcast that I downloaded, it says it cannot play on my Ipod. Hotel chevalier, a short film I downloaded, shows up on my Ipod playlist in Itunes, but it is nowhere to be found on the ipod itself...

    okay I figured it out.

under "Devices", that's where to add the existing files already in my Itunes library.

as opposed to going to the "library" and selecting an individual file and sending it to the "Ipod playlist".

Ok, yeah, but you have "options" for each device you connect. When you connect it, you will see it appear in DEVICES.
Click the iPod on its name to display the options on the main window pane.
Click 'manually manage music and movies' so that you can select videos individually (you see, if this is UNCHECKED, iTunes syncs ALL of your library).
Click the "Movies" tab on the top of that same pane that appeared, and check "Sync Movies" and iTunes will allow you to see all movies and individually select which ones you want to put on the iPod.

iPod Playlist, as you mention, might be just a generic or sample name given to you, but you can also create "Movies" playlists. By default, all videos go to the "Movies" list in your library. You do NOT need a separate list for them on iTunes nor in your iPod.

Just a quick note: I know enough to be dangerous with the iPods, and some of you know that. Because of that, I get friends' and their friends' iPods to add music and remove music, and sometimes I get 20Gb iPods and other times video and iPod Nanos, but...

Someone just dropped off an iPod that contains, AND I KID YOU NOT, 77000 FREAKIN' songs. OMFG.

Who needs that much music in Spanish? :D
