LOL at the funny bits....HP, I would take you up on that but you would never pay. Any Venture leads or help would be greatly appreciated. The money essentially gets 10 products.... 7 casual games 2 premier titles 1 Combat MMO I have a couple of properties that are near completion and we will use the revenues from those to fund the companies going forward. In fact we will have our first product out the door within 9 months and 2 more in the next 9 months...one being premier. I am putting up the website, and am looking for people to help with that too, so if you want to help, give me an EMAIL through the board, and we can discuss what I am doing etc.... PeeZocker is the name of the company, it is slang for someone who is a little troublemaker, and wants to shake up the world...and that is what we are planning to do...engage the public directly in the making of the games, and then breaking down the barriers of entry to people all over the world to make their own versions and money. Also, we are seriously considering Ebay... DD
What are you paying your lawyer for? Seems strange to be asking potentially life-changing business questions to a group of people that obsess over miley cyrus, make up new words (jelafied ), and ask internet monkeys for dating advice. edit: change the name of your company
If you get rich, I will wish I gave you lots of my money. If you become homeless, i'll be glad I didn't. Seriously, DD is obviously looking for rich people to give him some money... take out your wallets.
I pay my lawyer to make sure I can do stuff legally, they are not in the habit of setting up VC meetings etc.....that is what our exec board is doing. What I am asking is if anyone has any experiences in this area, and what were they, and how successful were you? DD
Fat chicks are not rich! Rich people marry good looking people, who have good looking kids who are now rich and who marry more good looking people....
JELAFIED 1. played like a sucka 2. horrible beyond description 3. gnashing of teeth 4. the fiery pits of hell 5. losing to a team composed of karl malone, john stockton, jeff hornacek, gary payton, shawn kemp, scottie pippen, dirk nowitski, coached by george karl and jerry sloan, and owned by mark cuban. in the 7th game of the finals, up by 2 pts, w/ 0.4 seconds left, on a inbounds 3pts from the pasty faced gangsta... Dude. You got jelafied by your prof. Yeah, sounds like THEY made it up.
No experience but good luck. I would imagine VC would require some strict guidelines and milestones to ensure their money is going to good use. But with a good business plan (that they've already approved) and executing properly I wouldn't see an issue. Then again what do I know.
If you really want to get 'out of the box' consider finding someone with connection to Companies in China. This may sound like a joke DD, but Yao is really into gaming. You might just try to contact the group that represents him and pitch it.
Queen Latifah and Cameron Manheim disagree. And if it were true then it makes no sense for this thread... because the idea was to figure out ways to get DD 6 million bucks.
The funny thing is that a lot of the VC/Contacts are not typically interested in game companies as they don't really understand the dynamics etc. I am seriously considering a massive grass roots approach where we just develop a game with volunteers around the globe and chronicle the adventure if I can not get the proper funding or connections. Oh, and maybe I need better lawyers.... LOL DD
Might I suggest: http://www.gobignetwork.com/ I have been looking at doing a start up as well. Good luck.
I've only set up one deal which eventually fell through (due to timing), but it had a lot of potential. i was strictly the facilitator between the two parties (the principal being the financeer/VC i mentioned). i would require a finder's fee, though.
Actually I forgot about this: There's conventions like TechCrunch40 (this year will be 50). It's filled w/ speakers and presentations, along w/ many startups looking for investors: http://www.techcrunch50.com/2008/the-demopit/ You can Google some articles on it, there's some serious industry heavyweights looking to spend cash here. Considering you're in video games it may not be a perfect fit, but since your model focuses on an online presence and not the conventional retail video game structure this may be of interest. Aren't there similar conventions for startup video game companies to present? I remember watching something on a tech show where it was filled w/ video game startups demoing.
